Why is our dog suddenly misbehaving?

Our dog is aroung 10 years old (rescue dog, no history) we have had her for 6 years and up until recently she has been well behaved when she is left. It all started a couple of months ago she started tipping the bins over when we were out (it didn't matter if we were out quarter of an hour or a few hours) and throwing the rubbish all over the kitchen and we were finding things in her bed from the bins. Today my hubby has come home and found she has chewed her bed which she has never done. We are unsure why she has started doing this, nothing major has changed in the last couple of months but she is an unwell dog, she has liver disease and a few lumps which we are investigating at the moment. We are worried that she could be suffering in some way but are not sure this would be the reason she is acting this way. Has anybody else experienced this? We are very worried about her and we do not know what to do about it.

Thanks

It sounds really upsetting (and hard work!), I'm so sorry - no explanation, but having had liver disease in the past myself, I'd guess it doens't actually hurt, but may make her feel restless/nauseous/unsettled. Poor dog, not sure what to suggest - talk to the vet about it?

Bumping for you anyway, and hope someone can help...

Is she on any medication?

Some medication can make dogs hungrier hence the need to scavenge. Chewing is often a stress relief (like us biting our nails) so she may just be off colour and feeling down. I would go back to the vet and ask his opinion.

Hi thanks she is on medication but only been on it for last couple of weeks and her food has been down on several occasions when she has been in the bin so don't think it's hunger. We are hoping to see the vet tomorrow so will ask them if they have any ideas then. Thanks for responding.
