Our puppy is coming home this weekend , yay! Grin Please can you give me some good ideas for cheap toys? I've bought some kongs and things from the petshop but also read that they like boxes etc to play with (it's been a long time since we've had a puppy!). Any safety tips? I saw a vid on youtube of a dog having great fun with an empty plastic fizzy drink bottle, but the lid was on - I thought that might be a safety hazard? Thanks for any advice!!

I use an old tea towel knotted for tug games and a cardboard box for hide and seek .

My dog has loved empty fizzy bottles, with the lids, for ages. He chews the lid off and disregards it, while then going for the label. Once the label has gone he chews the hell out of both ends of the bottle.

Keeps him entertained for at least an hour!

old sock stuffed with newspaper/other old fabric and knotted- good for throwing and generally attacking. Also bought her charity shop teddies (ones with embroidered eyes etc not plastic ones).

Our dog still loves plastic milkbottles (we take the lids off)- she crushes them for us before they go in the recycling. And plastic flowerpots.

Plastic bottles are ace. I don't take the lids off. Jasper just likes to pounce on them and chase them all about the house. If you can stomach the mess, old newspapers for them to shred. Our pup adores making confetti Grin

You'll have to see what he's like really. Some of them
will chew and play, others, like mine, will chew to consume, in which case you have to be more careful. I did feed mine his dry kibble in an empty plastic milk bottle for the first few weeks - kept him very busy if you can stand the noise! What breed is he?

Mine likes old towels. Drag ems around, rolls over, digs at them and so on. Also, cheap baby tights from Tescos r brilliant as soft tuggy toys.

Lots of brilliant ideas, thank you!
