As it says really! We've a few days in a cottage near Lewes next week and wondered if anyone knew the area - advice on walks/beaches/pubs/cafs/places in general that welcome DCs (young, 3 and 5) and large dog most welcome!

TIA!

(Cottage also found courtesy of MNetters too!)

Lewes is lovely. You can walk by the river to the Pells area where you can feed the ducks and there is a nice park. From there you can go up to see the castle, which is worth a look round.

Abbot's Wood is a lovely place to go with young DC and your dog. Nice walks, wooded adventure playground area, a pub half-way round - The Royal Oak I think.

You can also travel to Seven Sisters easily which again is a lovely walk down to the beach.

Seaford is another small town close by, but it has a lovely long beach and there is quite a good park on the seafront just across the road.

If you want a day out your DC will absolutely love

Drusillas It's a small zoo with a fab playground - really lovely (we are members).

Hope this is helpful. I might be able to think of more if you need more ideas or help Smile

There is a nice indoor swimming pool at Lewes

here It also has a small soft play area attached called Ocean Adventure.

There is another large soft play area

Monkey Bizness as you head South out of Lewes]] if you require it.

Newhaven Fort is another good day out, if you're interested in that sort of thing, but your DC's might be a teeny bit young for it.

Thank you so much for all this - Abbott's Wood looks amazing. I grew up in E Sussex and tbh, our trip's a bit of a recce for us all - I've definitely got more than a little yen to move back! Never quite lost my Sussex accent either, so should fit right in...

Lovely local knowledge - and all your suggestions would suit us down to the ground and give us lots to be doing! Thanks again.
