Sodding puppy constantly wants to go out. Once out he wants to come back in. I am freezing and irritated.

I don't want to ignore his requests to go out in case he needs to pee as he still has accidents in doors. But he goes out for two minutes then wants to come in. Once in he then wants to go out.
Big dog is now joining in because he is bloody thick assumes it is a fun new game.

I am being deeply stupid. Tell me what to do?

My puppy doesn't want to go out. I take her out. She shivers and yelps. She comes in and does a big wee. I've put one of DD's toy baby jumpers on her. It's not a great look and she just tries to eat it.

I'd like to offer advice, but I'm 2 months into a new puppy. She's just over 6 months old and is now in season! We'd booked her in to be spayed but she started bleeding a couple of weeks ago, so we can't have the op for 3 months now. I mention this because we were just getting out of the 'taking her out every 2 minutes' business when she started peeing in my kitchen, seemingly for fun! We now have her in a great routine. She goes to the woods with me around now when I'm not working (or on MN :)) then a second walk in the woods when I get in from school. She has about 4 walks between 5 and 10pm! Small, 15 minute urban walks, but we're kept on our toes! We've just hit our 4th dry day...no poo in the house, no wee in the house.

So I guess what I'm saying is, if he's old enough to go out for walks, get a routine established that helps to tire her out a bit and regulates her bowels/bladder! Feed on a schedule and take water away when she's just had a drink, unless it's really hot or she's been runnign around.

Good luck with it. Stay strong...an expert is bound to come on here with better advice than mine and it will get better. I know, because we thought Meg would NEVER twig that the kitchen, by the fridge, wasn't her loo...but I think she finally has! Good luck!!!!

I just realised I mixed up my pronouns and used the exclamation mark way too much. In my defence, pup is looking anxious and I really ought to take her out.

Thanks for the moral support.
Tufty - the coming in and doing a big wee is very familiar. The poor style choices, less so.

Flapper,
Not at all! Thanks
Yes I think he needs a more precise routine. The big dog doing his own thing muddles it a bit but I should work harder at tat.

She was trying to pull the cat along by his tail, Tom and Jerry style just now.

I think I'll fashion her a new coat and follow flapper's advice. She had her 2nd injection yesterday so maybe I'll take her for a walk in the woods. On a lead. She's tiny and might disappear down a hole. Mightn't she? Am I being silly?

Pagwatch · 02/02/2012 10:56

I go out with him often. This is between our trips outside.

Yy to summer puppies.

how old is your puppy pag?

Heres what I did.

Puppy wakes in morning, goes out on lead to part of garden that I want her to wee/poo in. When she does her business she is given a command (busy) and praised "Good Busy!" and treated. Comes back in.

After breakfast - about half hour later same thing again. Increase time as puppy gets older.

After afternoon nap, same again.

AFter Supper - more of the same - repetition, v boring but it works.

Before bedtime, bedtime wee. treated, put to bed.

It works, keep going.

Poor you. I'm afraid I cried when BastardDog was a puppy, I just found it so frustrating.

No advice except - This too will pass.
