Chewy pup!

My very lovely lab puppy is 8 months old. He's well trained in many areas, great off the lead, wonderful temprement etc etc.

He's crate trained; at night and when we're out. He will chew anything, even is bedding, and I feel like I will never trust him enough to leave him out of his crate for any length of time unsupervised! Tell me the chewing stops??? Please!? Hmm

Watching thread eagerly

I do remember my last rescue pup (also lab x) chewing till he was about a year old, then less till he was about 18 months, then hardly ever...

Do you give him things he can chew?

I have a year old Lab, he has never been too chewy unless I run out of bones / rawhide / filled kong etc.

Did your pup start getting worse at a particular age? Curious as I have a 5 month old lab pup too and we've not done too bad with chewing so far. He's only had the sky remote briefly but that was my fault for leaving it on the sofa next to him when I went to get a drink Blush

We got quite a few different types of toys available to keep him entertained, to be honest he doesn't play with his normal kong that much but will chew on a kong wubba for hours even though you can't put food in it. We give him his dinner in a treat ball which occupies him for a while then he just lies down with a chewy toy after. He seems to go through phases of wanting to chew on soft toys some days, like the ones at pets at home with no stuffing, to rope ones other days. Because so many people said rawhide was bad and we were worried about giving him extra food as a lab we bought him a couple of different nylabones too and he loves them

Anti chew spray or tabasco on anything important that you don't want chewed...like chair legs etc. And stuff he can chew.
Chewing does stop, not had anything chewed for years.

He has a ridiculous amount of things to chew, but much prefers things he shouldn't have!! I spend a fortune on things to keep him busy and away from shoes, toys, toilet roll, cushions, his bedding....
He has always been a bit chewy, but in last few months (actually seems to have coincided with him reaching puberty) he has got worse.
A few people have said 12-18 months so that'd reassuring; I just want to be able to leave him out of his crate Sad
I will buy some anti chew spray I think for when I am brave enough to leave him unsupervised!
Have just found out he has dog acne on his chin too; apparently very common and nothing to worry about but anyone any experience? What should I put on the spots? He only has one at moment.

Aww they are gorgeous dogs though and no matter what they chew you can't stay angry at them! There was a thread on here a while ago I think about acne and certain types of food bowls or maybe I read it after a google search

He is adorable. I am constantly amazed by how much I love him.
