Sorry, only you lot would understand.

Pip is farting so badly this eve, it's horrendous!

She is on day 2 of a food change (don't get me started on the fussy moo!)

Am doing it right, introducing it gradually with her current food - but my lord!!!! My nose hair is burning Envy

Then there is the problem with the Cat the Kitten and the wallpaper. Sad

Why do I have pets? Whhhhyyyyyy?

oh yuk, I feel your pain. I was fostering a lovely dog and he had the most disgusting bottom burps.

What are you changing the food from/to? Just nosey. Grin

Well, I am at a loss. In the last year I have tried everything!

She likes a food for 2 weeks and then starts to starve herself - nightmare. Have had her to the vet and they recommended the expensive food that is out of my price league (is it James Wellbeloved??)

At the moment she is on Chappie (foul yuk) and having done the big brands, and failed, I am now trying her on Tesco's own brand. She refuses dry food, doesn't like gravy (will happily eat the gravy I make served over left over veg/potato on a Sunday though [grrr] )

So we are currently on half a can of chappie/half of Tesco - and the trumping is beyond belief!

If this fails, I am going to have to give in and start making her meals from mince / chicken / rice / pasta. I have enough on my plate (pardon the pun) without having to 'cater' for a bloody dog! I love her, she's happy, gets enough exercise but she is a PITA where food is concerned.

Any advice greatfully received Grin

oh no! In tinned food they use lots of sulphates which makes dogs trump. Chappie Chicken and Rice is v good as a 'wet' food and easily digested. Vets recommend it for dogs with dodgy tums. The other ranges are filled with bulking things and are not v good.

Maybe think about feeding raw. There are lots of threads about it on Doghouse and lots of people who feed their dogs on it who will be able to help you out when starting. I feed mine on ARden Grange Dry Food and they love it, and cannot stand the smell of green tripe (makes me heave).

charcoal biscuits work.

Harley has a really sensitive stomach - even James Wellbeloved makes him reek unless we got the sensitive stomach one. But we found charcoal biscuits helped - just make sure he doesn't shit on the carpet as it leaves black marks!

He is now on own-brand tinned foods and mixer. He refuses all the good healthy organic foods nowHmm But he seems fine and less stinky.

RhondaRoo · 13/01/2012 20:46

Raw food- will have a look through the threads, thank you!

Charcoal biscuits - added to shopping list, thank you!

I now that Chappie is a 'good' wet food as we had a JRT that was prescribed it by the vet when he got a bit old and doddery! It just smells bloomin' awful Grin

Great advice, thank you - will investigate further.

Rhonda - have you tried a natural diet? When my beloved EBT was alive he was fed on tripe, pasta/rice/potatoes, veggies plus various additions: bonemeal was one and charcoal was another (helped significantly with farting). You might want to consider it? The tripe is cheap and the additions was sold in quantity so work out fairly reasonable. The veggies etc were just portions of what we ourselves were eating.

RhondaRoo · 15/01/2012 15:38

I am thinking that may be the answer, she does love our left-over veggies. Will see how she goes on the latest tinned food (as have bought 2 packs) but am not expecting her to settle on it.

Tripe....gurghhhhh but I am sure she'll like it Grin

I feel your pain. One of ours gets a runny bottom whenever he eats anything out of the ordinary.

roguepixie · 15/01/2012 23:02

I would buy packs of frozen tripe from the pet shop and store at the bottom of our freezer. Would take one pack out in the morning and it would defrost in time for his dinner. One word of warning though...do not cook the tripe - vile smell and not necessary. I would then add the bonemeal, charcoal powder, veggies and carbs.
