Anyone know of a good dog bed that he wont destroy and that can be cleaned or put through the wash. We have been through quite a few! He's not into chewing things except his bed! Tried vet bedding too and thats his fav Grin

How old is he? Has he finished teething? If he's still young he'll probably grow out of chewing, so it might be worth waiting until then before shelling out on anything expensive.

I use the padded waterproof dog beds which can be wiped clean or washed down with a hose. They're brilliant, but very expensive so not worth buying if he is still teething.

I used blankets in a plastic dog bed for pups. The beds can withstand a fair bit of chewing.

He is five! So don't think he will grow out of it! Is there a particular brand of waterproof bed that is better than others or are they much of a muchness?

kuranda aluminium raised bed that what they use in the shelters, they look ace!

ditavonteesed · 05/12/2011 08:09

very expensive I was looking at this one, but I have border terrier and a cockerspaniel and I think it wuld be far too big. probably about right for a weimeranrer.

scrappydoodah · 05/12/2011 11:05

www.petsandleisure.co.uk/ These are the best I've found but they aren't chew proof. Anti chew spray might help him break the habit, but you've probably already tried that.

Sorry, haven't worked out how to do the fancy link thing....

iliketobounce · 05/12/2011 21:46

Thanks for all your replies will do some research on the things youve suggested. Maybe a waterproof bed may not be as nice to chew....just wish he would chew dog toys instead!

A Bia Bed, if you can get hold of one. Think they're Swedish. Many different sizes and sooooooo comfortable. I often boot my Spaniel out of his so that I can sit in it.

iliketobounce · 06/12/2011 13:36

It will be either the tuffies chew proof or kuranda. Leaning slightly towards the kuranda as it looks more portable and will keep him off the ground when we go camping.

scrappydoodah - i've just ordered one of the oval waterproof beds at £65 and i blame you entirely Grin

thing is though i think it will last rather than another soft covered duvet bed which sheds everywhere, stinks of wet dog and realistically just falls apart in the washing machine and doesn't really get free of hair which would cost £30 anyway.

it WILL last. i'm determined and i will feel better about the fact i'm kicking the dog out of my bed if she has a really good bed of her own that i can put in nice places for her without stinking the house out.

sorry for thread hijack.

scrappydoodah · 06/12/2011 21:58

Guilty as charged!

You'll love it Santa. Promise. A quick hoover and a wipe down and you're sorted. Hope your dog likes it too!

Mine have lasted ages btw.

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 10/12/2011 20:33

she loves it! quite happily climbs in and sleeps there Shock plus my ds is rather taken by it and keeps trying to climb in for a nap.

looks really durable and comfortable. she has chosen in front of the front door (which is by the radiator) for her night spot and has slept whole nights down here in it without coming and trying to get in my room.

cracked it Smile

thanks for the tip.

scrappydoodah · 10/12/2011 22:25

Yay Santa!

Kind of a new one - ds in dog's bed. It's usually the other way round Grin

SantaIsAnAnagramOfSatan · 10/12/2011 23:00

tbf i suspect the dog bed was more expensive than ds's so maybe it's more comfortable Grin
