Dogs and free range bunnies

We used to have two rabbits happily running round our large enclosed garden. One got killed by a feral cat that has now been removed from the local area. So now we have one lonely bunny (but who is good mates with our cat).

But in meantime have got new puppy. Vizsla (a hunter).

Any chance we could introduce a new bunny to our garden. Won't put bunnies in cages/runs long term.

What do you think?

Take great great care - it can be done however much harder with a gun dog though. Depends on the dog entirely and how much of a chase prey drive they have.

I think many dogs would find a loose rabbit in the garden very hard to leave unless constantly supervised.

Whoops pressed send to soon!

We do have a house rabbit but he lives upstairs and the dogs live downstairs. Rabbit does come down but only when we are around to supervise the dogs. They do leave the rabbit if we are there but I would not risk it any other way. They would chase it in the garden and the outcome would be catastrophic so Rabbit has he own bit of very secure fenced garden along with chickens!
