For every 2 good things, tell us 1 bad thing. Or whatever ratio you want.

For no reason, just a little affirmation/moan.

Dog 1
loves me more than anyone else Grin, is very pretty but brings home every bit of mud/ leaves/ vegetation within walking distance stuck to her fur

Dog 2
loves everyone especially small people, is very obedient but loses every bit of self control when confronted by food and can regularly be found with her face in the bin Shock

TwoIfBySea · 09/11/2011 21:21

Unconditional love means he is always happy to see me (I have cried into his fur before which makes me sound pathetic but he just sat there leaning in to me which made me feel better in no time.)

Exercise, nothing is more fun than walking with a dog. I know places locally I'd never have found without the hound!

Flipping fur, he's a goldie/lab so the hair is all over the place! Plus, as doggydaft said, we bring half the park back home with us.

whatever117 · 09/11/2011 21:24

BoBo

Good: 1) Super loyal - always feel a little bit a fur under my feet when working.

  1. Never left my side when I had a virus recently, looked after me and growled when the doorbell went without leaving my side.

Bad 1) filthy, swims in the Thames and rolls in shit and needs at least a rinse after each and every walk. Stinky.

IfYouSeeKay · 09/11/2011 21:25

Dog 2
Loves people - greets everyone like they are a member of the family
Is gorgeous but coat is hard work and harbours all sorts of debris and general shite
Is very biddable and eager to please
Has a fucking annoying bark. Which she likes to use. A lot.

Dog 1
Is stunningly handsome but....
...is an utter bastard.

whatever117 · 09/11/2011 21:26

Do you think they love us too?

Or are they just happy to have a home?

BoBo really seems to adore me.

OP posts:
whatever117 · 09/11/2011 21:27

Bo loves being groomed - I hold up his brush and he leaps up. Is this normal?

OP posts:
whatever117 · 09/11/2011 21:31

The barking - drives me nuts. But he is getting a lot better.

I think he is getting older and learning that the barking makes us tell him off.

Plus we are making an effort to walk him MORE - bloody terriers!

OP posts:
IfYouSeeKay · 09/11/2011 21:33

I'm under no illusions with Bastard Dog. He only tolerates us because he can't open the fridge himself.

clam · 09/11/2011 21:34

Oh dear. I love mine dearly and he's a sweetheart, but at the moment I can only think of his bad points. Blush

TwoIfBySea · 09/11/2011 21:35

whatever, oh I think they do. I sometimes come out the bathroom to find him standing there waiting on me.

Then again I suppose he could be thinking I might be getting ready to go a walk!

Beamur · 09/11/2011 21:37

Can I have 2 bad things to 1 good? Wink
Dog smells (likes to roll in stuff)
Dog has unpredictable recall (sometimes takes herself for a walk)
But is sweet and friendly and well behaved indoors.

PersonalClown · 09/11/2011 21:41

The Doodle.
↑Loves his cuddles and kisses. Drapes himself around your legs like a cat.
↓The bloody fur. It gets everywhere. And no food is sacred. It's all noms to him.

The Staffy.
↑Just loves everyone. Always wants to sit on you or next to you. Loves making little kiddies giggle with an unexpected slobber kiss!
↓Will shred any and all bits of paper in the house. Makes the post delivery an interesting race in this house.
Oh and will have his chops in your cup before you've even finished drinking.

whatever117 · 09/11/2011 21:55

Personal Clown - is your staffie a good doggy? I see so, so many on rescue websites and automatically (sorry) think - chav, fighter, dangerous. But I have met so many in the park who play really sweetly with my terrier. My terrier is mid calf and so are the staffs really - no bigger than knee height.

I kind of think - if you can kick a mad dog off you will be OK. And anything lower than knee height - you should be alright? My kids are 12 and 21. I have always steered clear of staffies cos I thought they were fighters.

OP posts:
PersonalClown · 09/11/2011 22:16

My staffy is great. He's happy to meet other dogs but for him walkies means nose down and in and out of bushes, long grass and people flower beds!

The chavs really push for Staffies to be dog aggressive to go with the 'hardman' image but most I've met are completely indifferent to other dogs.
They really are a loyal loving breed. It's just the look that the arseholes want. All muscle, teeth and a wide gob.

Signet2012 · 09/11/2011 22:22

good - Has such a character you can actually have a full argument with him, neither of us wanting to not have the last word, he backs up to you on the settee and throws himself back so he is sat like we do and appears to watch the telly. He loves me beyond any other, even lets me take his bone when he growls at everyone else. Knows he has to be gentle with my mum and my niece so sits down when he wags his tail and looks like he is swaying rather than knocking them over jumping about. When he sneaks in the bedroom on a night and very gently climbs on the bottom of the bed and shoves his nose under my covers!

Bad- embarrasses me whenever he gets the chance, be it coming downstairs with my knickers round his neck, or acting like he is going to behave himself then tricking me into a false sense of security... mainly how much he moults and the way he screams in my ear like a child over and over when Im driving.

morethanyoubargainfor · 09/11/2011 22:25

dog 1, also known as curly butt!

good things, he has eyebrows and speaks with an accent and looks great in a smoking jacket Wink. Bad things, he will only acknowledge you if he chooses!

dog 2, loopy lurcher!

good things, walking, food, cuudles, grooming, training, sleeping, being told to bog off are his favourite things in the whole world!
bad things, his tramp past has not left him and he hasn't learnt that we don't need or want a pet pheasant Blush.

pictures on profile, you will understand if you take a peek!

iarebaboon · 09/11/2011 22:28

Good - Loves us

Bad- Hates everyone else

Good- Is bloody gorgeous

Bad - Attracts every screetchy young girl in a 20 mile radius

Bad- Would like to bite girls

Good- Too scared to bite girls

oreocrumbs · 09/11/2011 22:30

4 dogs
Top dog so loyal has mended broken hearts and broken bones
also been responsible for a few of said broken bones!

Dog 2 beautiful, graceful, clever
stubborn as an ox, and lets off massive farts in your face as she gracefully slides off sofa with her bum at face height!

Dog 3 (goldie - others are labs) playfull, bright, eager to please will be a field trial champion if she continues as she is,
bit of a spoilt princess and pushy and a bit annoying

Dog4 DDs playmate, another exceptional dog work wise, top dogs daughter so will always have a special place in my heart,
has been led a bit by the goldie and has her pushyness, gets under my feet and is currenty responsible for my latest injuries!

Wouldn't be without a single one of them even when I'm sat on the floor and they are all hogging the couch! Grin

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 09/11/2011 22:32

God this place needs Val back.

wildfig · 09/11/2011 22:33

BigDog is calm, supercuddly but does have a penchant for fox poo (rolling in and eating).

YoungDog is cuddly most of the time, funny, but is still working through some adolescent behaviour issues.

Both are gorgeous, which makes up for the distinctive niff. And hairs. And 75% recall.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 09/11/2011 22:36

Dog 2- Cute as a button, happy, and loving BUT

food obsessed and likes to run away given even the slightest opportunity. Adores DH and regards me with barely disguised disdain

Dog 1- Loving and loyal (or used to be Sad) BUT

Now totally senile, doesn't know who we are, completely lost all his toilet training/ incontinent and I'm finally coming to the realisation that his life isn't all that good any more and I need to make a decision, soon Sad He is 16.5

Worst thing about any dog is that they just don't live long enough.

musicposy · 10/11/2011 01:12

Dog 1 - loving and loyal, herds us like sheep, I am sure would defend us to the death.
BUT, loves the sound of his own voice. Barks, and barks, and barks. Every tiny noise. He would truly be a perfect dog without the bark.

Dog 2 - sweet, funny, as cute as can be. Spends her life looking adorable. But, so naughty. Wants what she wants and intends to get it. Gets immediately forgiven for every bin-raiding, rodent-munching, dinner-stealing misdemeanour because of above adorableness.
Used to be very quiet but has slightly inherited the barking habit from dog 1.Hmm

musicposy · 10/11/2011 01:16

Jooly I worry about ours going the same way. He's much younger (almost 10) but noticeably grumpier and less patient now. DD2 stood on his tail by accident yesterday and he really snarled and snapped at her. He'd never have done that a year or so ago. Does not like walks any more unless it is lovely weather and they are short. But he still seems young and bright in lots of ways, so hopefully OK for a while yet.

Sad A sad decision for you to make.

chocolaterainbow · 10/11/2011 02:02

Good stuff.
Loyal, unusual (markings, she's a collie x), always happy to see us (or, well, anyone), protective, excellent with 'sit' and 'drop'(even if it's food!), sits to be petted even though it obviously pains her as she's dying to jump up on me (she does the swaying too signet lol). Energetic and happy. Very sociable with other dogs, loves kids. Walking her is my only motivation to get out of the house some days, and I always feel better for it, is there anything more lovely than a morning walk through the fields with a pooch that adores you. Oh, and recall when we're on walks - 100%.

Bad stuff.
Recall when she sees the back garden gate open - 0%. Sometimes (very rare now actually) still wees when she's over excited. Absolutley awful with cats. She likes the sound of her own barking, which is an awful, penetrating yelpy loud noise. The worst thing though is that I don't have the time to walk her as much as I'd like at the moment. It's temporary, just for a few months, she's getting some but not enough excercise at the mo and I'm sure it frustrates her because we used to do a good hour or two every morning.

I have to share this link made me giggle because my dog's a wee bit simple at times, not to this extent, just silly things like she trips over her long legs when she's excited, or sits on the wrong part of her bum so that her front legs are sprawled out.

Aww Jooly, how sad for you

DianaXXX · 11/11/2011 00:28

Daisy a year and a half old foxy red Labrador
Loves everyone to bits, loyal energetic smart playfully just wonderful all around
However....
Brings dirt in the house and worse of a no matter how much I brush her with the furminator ( and trust be it's like shaving a sheep don't get better then that) the whole housing including myself is covered in hair Sad
