I've wibbled on here before about UWD and her hip displasia. She had her first TPO op in July and her second in September. She went in for x-rays a couple of days ago and the vet is thrilled. The ops have gone as well as they could have hoped and she is now orthopaedically sound. She shouldn't have any problems with her hips now for the rest of her life!
I can't tell you all how much I appreciate the hand holding and advice I've had on here. It's been lovely having somewhere to talk about this with people that know how worrying it is and aren't thinking, "FGS, it's just a dog."
We're on a slow build up to fitness, a couple of 10 minute walks a day for a week, building up gradually over the next month and fingers crossed she'll be good to meet up with her mates at the dog park in early December. Grin

:)

What is a TPO op? I didn't know there was a cure for hip displasia.

DogsBestFriend · 06/11/2011 17:40

TPO - triple pevic osteotomy. :)

Nun, that's fantastic news, I'm grinning like a loon here. :) :) :)

Sounds like a big operation!
glad its all going well

Katharine - major op that can only be done in a small window of time when the dog is very young.
