Just a reminder. Fireworks can be set off earlier than you'd think and in places they're not allowed.

My Dad almost lost my sisters Lurcher when he bolted after a banger was set off during his walk at 5pm.

They searched pretty much constantly for him until midnight. The gatekeeper where they walk there dog rang them when they were just about to give up to tell the dog had come to where they usually park their car and was hiding under the car.

am taking ralph for a long walk after lunch instead of this evening, hoping to avoid any bangers

Good thought, Dooin.

Fireworks very controlled around here, and Mouse so far seems totally unphased by noises (as long as he's in the house, anyway, not sure about out), but our ex-dogwalker's dog was in a park one afternoon near Nov 5th and one of those giant starburst fireworks went off very close to her. Huge huge bang - it was faulty. Luckily no one hurt, but dog utterly traumatized and has been agaraphobic ever since Sad

we have a pubic display tonight very close to where we live - not looking forward to it. Lab was shaking last night when a few went off in the neighbourhood.wanted to giver her a big cuddle but not the right thing to do .

Last year she didn't seem to be bothered by it - she was about 5 months.

mine haven't been bothered so far. My collie loves party poppers (strange dog) so she might get a bit wound up thinking there are loads of giant party poppers going off!

My springer completely ignores fireworks, from the comfort of the lounge.

My Dad has now bought flashing lights for his dogs collars. Where he walks them there are no street lights. It's pitch black. He wears a small head torch but it's only strong enough to allow him to see where he is stepping not where the dogs are.

The only thing is the lights flash blue and red and where is walks his dogs is also were the local teens hang out to smoke weed. He was most amused, last night when testing out his new collar lights when he heard "Quick, it's the bizzies, bury the joint!" He wanted to dig the joint back up but couldn't see where they'd buried it Grin.

Our dog is terrified of fireworks (or any bangs), never used to be, seems to have happened in old age. We walked earlier and are now in sitting room with fire on & TV on rather loud. Last night we had to go out so left radio/TV on in various rooms but to no avail. She heard some bangs when we got back and was a panting, shaking wreck for 2 hoursSad. I have even spent £50 on a pheromone collar & spray....neither work!
