i have a labradoodle. for me it wasnt about wanting a fashionable dog, but what was suited to our family at the time.

can anyone tell me more about cockerpoos. i have seen a huge increase in them lately, why? are they easier than the mad doodles?

what other crossbreeds with mad names are on the increase? did anyone else see the article recently about the man who bred the 1st labradoodle regretting it due to unscrupulous breeders?

my dd's wet themselves with laughter when i told them of a dog on britains got talent earlier this year which was a bull dog/shitzu so a bullshit Grin

Do I dare get my fluffball groomed??

I quite like his shaggy, just got out of bed look.

I have a staflacollie! Which sounds like an illness Grin

BehindLockNumberNine · 26/10/2011 22:39

Loving the idea of a staflacollie.

Sam is mostly whippet. But there is something else in there. We just don't know what...

Feel free to look on my profile and offer your insights. At the moment I refer to him as my 'whippety' boy. But he is not pure whippet. He is a smidge bigger and squarer than a whippet. So what else is in there????

kid · 26/10/2011 23:06

I don't really know much about whippets, but are his ears a bit on the big size for a whippet? Kind of puts me in mind of a jack russel head but of course he is much bigger than that.
Either way, he looks very sweet Smile

BehindLockNumberNine · 26/10/2011 23:23

Yup, mad ears, too big for a whippet. Many people have said he reminds them of a long legged Jack Russel...

Thanks for nice words, we think he is rather lovely too Smile

dh has identified our mutt's true breed:

He is a Labeagaff. Or Labeagaffy.

I knew it, he's special Grin

My sister has a 16 wk GoldenDoodle. Mum is a 'field' golden and Dad is a giant poodle. We were lucky to be able to meet both mum and dad and all the pups. Puppy has a black feathery coat and silvery nose. Very busy puppy though.
I know a lovely Cockerpoo.
We've just taken on a Lorkie/Yorkieland. OK, I made that up. She is a Lakeland/Yorkie mix and she is lovely. Not too dainty (she's living with a very large retriever and we don't do 'teacup' dogs) and seems to have a great temperament.

Thanks for that DBF. I don't know much about dog rescue but my kitties are both rescue cats as were my last 3. I wanted a pup when we got her highness because I'd never had a dog and I wanted the pup experience (OH has had dogs his whole life, his Mum was a boxer breeder).

When I got her I had wanted to breed, she has a wonderful personality and is just lovely I was convinced it would be a good thing to do. However, when I started researching it I realised it was a stupid idea. While I would have done everything I could to be a responsible breeder I could not bring little lives into the world and then just let them go hoping it would all be ok. With the amount of dogs in rescue it would be unethical for me to dabble. Then my princess made sure I could not change my mind be having seizures, so we got her done.

Its a crime how many doodles end up in rescue because people think they are all non-shedding
