What does a home check involve?

Just that really. I've looked through the last ten pages of this section and haven't seen a thread, but if I've missed it please point me at it.

Are they looking for a tidy house?

The dog I'm interested in is a 9 year old cross breed that has been in a rescue place for a while, and apparently gets on with everyone and everything and seems like the perfect dog for us :)

I passed :) :) :) Lovely lady came out this afternoon. Wasn't vaguely interested in the house, looked at the garden and said it was all fine so we had a long chat about her dogs. Kids decided to have a fight when she was here obviously!

Just trying to find somewhere cheap to stay near Llanelli, but failing so think I;m gonna have to do it in one day.

Proper excited now Grin

Grin yes!

when are you going?

i think there are some mners in the doghouse from that part of wales. maybe they could advise? or how about asking her foster carer for any recommendations of where to stay? you could also check travelodges along the M4. i recently got one for £12 a night. my dog stayed with me (additional charge to take dog though they didnt charge me). they were very welcoming

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2011 19:01

I asked the rescue place and they suggested the Travelodge but it is £52! I'll probably be ok doing it in the day.

Going on Sunday :)

dd1 & 2 had a massive fight while our homechecker was here this week too Blush

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2011 19:11

Katherine just wanted you to know that your thread here led to another dog being adopted from Many Tears Grin

I followed your link just out of interest ( have been pondering on getting a dog for about a year now) - saw a Lab that was perfect for us, passed the homecheck and we are going up tomorrow to meet/collect him! I am so excited :)

A link on MN can do no end of good. Good luck with your adoption :)

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2011 22:44

Ooh, fantastic! Good luck with your adoption too :)

OP posts:
KouklaWhooooo · 14/10/2011 22:59

I know - it's great isn't it? It was nothing like the RSPCA experience we had with the cats ( "you vant to adopt ze cats? you have ze audacity to vant our cats??")

The whole adoption experience has been a pleasure :)

KouklaWhooooo · 14/10/2011 23:00

He is "Abraham" the golden Lab btw.

bumpybecky · 14/10/2011 23:04

awww that's brilliant :):)

you know we'll need pics next week don't you?!

KatharineClifton · 14/10/2011 23:12

Abraham looks lovely!

Yes, I think we'll be taking lots of pics :)

Congratulations on the adoption. I can recommend the Travelodge at Crosshands- the staff there are lovely and there are often discounts via the main Travelodge website. And, like all Travelodges you can take a dog. Unfortunately rates do go up at half term.

There is also a nice looking new Premier Inn at the new Parc Trostre development just outside Llanelli which would be very handy for MT. This is sited near the Scarlets rugby stadium, and they've developed a big shopping area too (complete with a Lakeland and a PAH!) For your first walk, I can highly recommend the wonderful Pembrey Country Park, miles of glorious beach, sand dunes, woods, picnic areas - it's lovely. In fact, Pembrey has a campsite/caravan site if that's your thing.

Another one who insists on pics. Grin

coccyx · 15/10/2011 07:17

Poised her waiting for pics

Elibean · 15/10/2011 12:17

pics, pics! Smile

Our Many Tears pup is so settled already, after just a week - we had a great experience of re-homing with them (admittedly, Mouse was in foster care so we never went to actual Rescue, but all communication was excellent).

Have fun!

Elibean · 15/10/2011 12:18

And thats pics from both of you, please, Katherine and Koukla!

chickchickchicken · 15/10/2011 15:41

Abraham looks lovely too. thanks for posting to let us know that the link lead to you adopting him.

I'm waiting for pics too Smile

elibean - mouse? Smile

Elibean · 15/10/2011 17:04

On my profile, chick Smile

Elibean · 15/10/2011 17:05

I mean, on my photos via my profile Blush

chickchickchicken · 15/10/2011 17:42

i've seen him, he's gorgeous. but thought he was called seamus? or is that just his official name? one of mine is called bobby but we usually call him dinosaur - not when we are out walking though Grin

Elibean · 15/10/2011 23:33

Seamus lasted about 4 hours Blush. dd2 couldn't pronounce it, and my uncle emailed me and said 'well I'll just call him Mouse for short', and it stuck!

Ye gods, you didn't think I'd got TWO new pups did you? Can't seem to find time to remember anything as it is, with Mouse plus dds Grin

Elibean · 15/10/2011 23:34

ps I like 'dinosaur'. My old boy was 'Dingo', but had about ten different names and got called all of them, everywhere....too embarrassing to post Wink

KatharineClifton · 18/10/2011 11:07

I have a new dog shaped shadow Grin Amelia is a lovely dog, and much prettier than the pictures.

Hope you don't mind a couple of questions. She was spayed on 28/09/11 and mostly the scar has healed, but there are a couple of bits that are still quite red - is this normal?

She was flead with Advocate on 31/08 but obvs has come with fleas. Is it ok to do it again?

OP posts:
KatharineClifton · 18/10/2011 11:24

I've answered the Advocate q myself as google tells me it is only a monthly treatment. Really should of got some treatment in before I let my house get infested. Doh!

OP posts:
Elibean · 18/10/2011 14:25

Congratulations!!! Pics? Ooh, haven't checked your profile yet...Smile

I do'nt know about dogs, but my c-section scar had red bits for months and months - sounds pretty normal to me?
