I have had my 10 week old pup for 5 days. I brought him home on the day he had his 2nd vaccinations.

Since the 2nd day I've had him, he has had very runny poos. He has been eating grass a lot too.
I had not changed his food from the Natures Diet he was on, but had given him puppy biscuits as treats as I wanted to start training asap.

On Thursday he was sick twice and didnt seem hungry. At this point I stopped giving him his dog food and gave him just chicken instead. He ate this happily.

He has not been pooing frequently, but when he did it was liquid. This continued until this morning when it became a little thicker. (He pooed again while I was typing, and it is still liquid)

Since Friday, he has eaten only chicken and rice (and possibly a slug I didn't get to in time) he has been in and out of the garden though, so could have possibly picked something else up.

Today he has been making a coughing sound, and being sick. This has happened about 10-12 times. He has generally been bringing up nothing, or clear liquid with black bits in it, clear liquid with grass, but the last twice he has brought back some of the rice he had just eaten.

All the time he has seemed fine in himself, he has been eating and drinking normally, is not dehydrated at all. He is quiet, not boisterous, but I don't know if that is a sign of something being wrong, or just the way he is IYSWIM

I don't know if this is just due to the change of home etc or if I should be worried.

I have a vets appointment anyway for wednesday, would you just carry on as I have, and see what happens? Arrange an appointment tomorrow when they open, or try to get to an out of hours clinic?

I'm sorry but for a puppy I'd have had him there first thing this morning. He is from rescue and could have any number of things not to mention that his immune system may be already compromised from a traumatic start in life. I would have given him a 24hr fast had he been an adult but as a puppy so young so much can go wrong, they can go downhill very quickly but bounce back quickly. Good luck at the vets..

Any news?

I called the vet this morning, and the receptionist said he would ring me back. As I hadn't heard anything by half ten, he rang the rescue and asked if I could pick up some probiotic paste from them (they had suggested that on Friday in case he got worse)
I took him with me, and they checked his temperature etc while I was there.

He obviously did not vomit there at all Confused so it looked like I was over reacting. Grin He waited till we got back and dd it 3 times in a row.

The man at the rescue thought it was just an upset tummy, with a bit of kennel cough, and said to carry on with the rice and chicken.

He has seemed perkier this afternoon, and has only been sick a few times.

But ...... Drumroll ...... He just did a semi solid poo!!!!!

I was so excited I could have kissed him Grin I settled instead for texting my husband and a friend with the good news Wink

We have a vet's appointment for Wednesday anyway, so I am hoping he will be back to normal then.

Thank you all for the handholding and advice while I was worrying over my PFB

I have a happy doggy with almost solid poo Grin He has coughed?/retched? a few times today, but there has been no sick.
I have a vet appointment tomorrow which had already been booked, so he will be checked again then.

I am very relieved. I have only had him a few days, but he is already part of the family Smile
