(Well she was at the vets yesterday being speyed)
From what I gather (hubby was the one who made the phonecall) - she's come from a yard with cats, passed cat testing and is a really sweet little black girlie... and they'll ring us probably into next week to go meet her when she's settled down and they've got their own measure of her!

Sooooo excited - would love them to ring earlier so we could go meet Mrs Houndette!

Sooo... if people look like their dogs - does getting a grey mean I automatically become a sleek, slender, supermodel athlete?! (Rather than a shaggy farting mess?!)

Oh and on the issue of looking like your dog .... sadly not. Bertie is sleek, muscular and refined looking. I'm ..... not! About the only thing we have in common is that we're both going greyer.

I always feel a fraud taking him for a run, because we're completely mismatched - I'm a plodder (but will happily do 10 + miles), he's a sprinter but struggles to run with me for more than three miles - any more, and we have a day of protest involving his complete refusal to move from his bed for the rest of the day.

He has however come out to the kitchen just now and graciously accepted some cooked chicken, so some temptations can still make him move!

Hi Paws, glad you are getting a second. It's one of those things where it depends really on the dogs concerned. Some people will advise having one of each, but I've known lots of combos of boy/boy and girl/girl work very well. We've currently got three, two boys and a girl, but have fostered both girls and boys, and the boys have several special "mates" who they see regularly for peeing contests/lying around farting talking about cheese. We had one disastrous foster who was another grande dame elderly female like ours - didn't work at all and we were like the UN, maintaining a safe zone. Yet we've fostered other females, and they've ended up best buddies. I'd take your existing dog along and see how they get on.

Meeting girlie at their trainers tomorrow with a view to getting her start of next week if the meeting goes well - now expecting it to be the one dog Woofbags has an issue with!

Grin at scuttle looking as if she is playing twister

empty - i had a feeling you might go and see her Smile . except for being a few years older (not a small thing i know) she does sound ideal for you. what a lucky girl she will be if it all goes well tomorrow. try not to be too nervous - i always am so i dont practise what i preach!! - and i'm sure the dogs will get on ok

please let us know how it goes. good luck

Thanks Scuttle! We're an almost exclusively male household, what with three ds, DH, and the dog, so farting and talking about cheese are pretty much par for the course here!

Only flaw with her is the name she has - it's godawful bless her!

Woofbags has been thoroughly briefed on how he should be his charming, shaggy around the edges, self (as opposed to his other totally mental ASBO case self) - think the Tramp from Lady and the... and he actually looks a bit like him!

Going this afternoon.
