No 1 reason why you shouldn't get a dog.

I see so many posts starting with 'tell me why I shouldn't get a dog' and i've just found the ultimate reason. I de-pooed the garden this morning after my dog had been out and obviously hadn't done it thoroughly enough because my one year old DD just found a tiny tiny bit of dog poo and was rubbing it between her fingers. Luckily I was watching her like a hawk and rushed to wash it off. So so upset. So unless you can 100% guarantee that you will religiously walk the dog at exactly the same times every single day, your garden will be used as a dog loo. Which is really not nice when you have small children.

Soggy shite is a bugger to pick up.
Yes... our first dog wouldn't eat dry food. So pleased our current one likes it, makes such a difference to the output !Grin

Lol @ the 'bum crumbs' comment on page 1 - brilliant!

Personally I can live with the poo but the muddy paw prints and hairy house are the two bits of doggie living that are most likely to get me down. We're just considering extending our utility room into another downstairs room to create a big 'boot room' space where we can wash and dry the dogs. I figure that losing a room is probably worth it to help keep the rest of the house clean!

the carbon footprint of having a dog is greater than having a mitsubishi shogun apparently.

and you have to pick up dog poo with just a plastic bag! yuk!

I don't have a one year old anymore. Hurrah! So should be fine.

mdoodledoo I sympathise. 2 GSDs who love romping around in the garden (despite being run/walked to near heart stopping proportions) and then galloping in the back door, nudging open the kitchen door and dancing all over my floors!

I can handle picking up dog poo - even the sloppy ones. I can handle walking in the rain/snow/ice, dont really like fleaing/worming, gives me the heebie jeebies.

But hairy, muddy floors drives me insane. I think I get a bit OCD in winter time. DH thinks the mop is permanently attached to me. Grin

I was practically raised in a zoo, the amount of pets my parents let us have, so feathers, fur, poo and stray bits of hay are normal to me. I do wish I hadn't insisted that w white sofa would be fine. White sofa + dogs + mud = big mess. Luckily it is leather so wipe clean, but there is not a single day passes when my sofa is paw print free. I'm sure the little buggers know when I have just finished washing it, you can gurantee they will all bound into the living room and dive all over it the second I put my cloth down. It's the same with the floors. Freshly mopped floors mean you simply must chase each other the house madly running out into the dusty yard and back into the clean floors Hmm
