We've got two beautiful dogs that unfortunately we have to re-home (our two year old has very bad asthma, and his doctor has advised we eliminate all potential triggers) We really don't want to separate them, they're 6 and 7, and have grown up together. They're terrific with children, I have a 4 year old, 2 year old, and a baby, they're even terrific with the cat ( which also needs a new home) We've been in touch with cavalier rescue, and they did put us in touch with a couple that would be interested, they sounded perfect when we spoke to them, we said we would e-mail some photos, but we mislaid their contact information, so we thought they would get back in touch with us, but as they haven't, I don't think they can have been that interested. Sorry for waffling on, but I'm finding this really hard, and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction of finding somewhere that will find a good home. Do I just phone local re- homing centres? Are there any places that would try harder to find them a home together?

Thank you for reading.

Just wanted to thank you all for the advice.

I had another chat with the doctor (different one this time) He still doesn't want to send ds for tests (touch wood he's been okay for a while, hope I'm not tempting fate saying that!) but this doctor seemed to agree that rehoming the hounds might not be the best thing for ds's immunity. So I'm very happy to say that the pooches are staying. Dh has also put a catflap in the shed for the cat, and built him a nice shelf for his bed Grin

If I hadn't asked on here, I may have reacted too quickly after only a few opinions. Thank you x

Hi Hiccy, I'm glad you have decided you can keep your dogs after all. If you do find out the trigger your DSs asthma and you need to re-home them I would be interested in having a further conversation with you. We had to have our dog put to sleep recently and after 15 years of having a dog (or 2) in the house are feeling very empty and considering what to do next . I'm not keen to go down the puppy route as I have to admit I prefer older dogs who are more settled.

That's wonderful news and I'm sure you're relieved not to lose your dogs and to have your GPs reassurance. I hope that it works out for you and that your lad improves loads too.
