So devil dog numero uno, needs renaming. He has now been promoted to Very Good Dog Grin

I have a JRT until Friday night or Sunday, depending upon transport. We shall call him devil dog 2.

Devil dog 2 + cat = dpg slightly nervous, but otherwise fine.

Devil dog 1 + devil dog 2 = Dog 2 slightly nervous. Dog 1, couldn't give a shit (that's my dog Grin)

Devil Dog 2 + Whippy dog = All hell hath broken loose Hmm

Dog 2 aka Zack is very nervous. He shows this with 'keep away from me' growls, loud yawning and lots of lip licking, however he does want to investigate whether Whippy is friendly. His growling and whining has scared her wittless and she is now turning into a hell hound the moment she spots him. This is most unusual, she has never had a problem with other dogs before. She is very well socialised.

My plan atm involves leashing Zack and Whippy and plying them both with cheese at opposite ends of the room until they are more comfortable with each other. Is this a good plan or a bad plan? Any other tips?

I can keep them seperate if neccessary, but it would be easier for me if I didn't have to lock them in seperate rooms. PLus it would be better for Devil Dog 2 if he gained a bit more confidence around other dogs as he is going in rescue kennels at the weekend,

On a brighter note he is a lovely dog. Okay with cats, great with children, walks nicely on his lead, would be okay with some dogs but not all dogs, if anyone in the NE is planning on adopting a JRT in the near future, he will be on the rescue website soon.

It's okay now. Whippy has dropped her hell hound act. They are still sort of dancing about each other, but are able to be in the same room as each other, supervised of course.

Maybe try 'parallel walking' with a dog friend. Obviously with a dog who is 'bomb proof'.

It is something that my trainer friend uses and have seen it in action. Works well.

You walk in a field/park or wherever on lead at a distance from each other, coming together and walking next to each other at a distance then gradually getting closer.

I wouldnt have the dogs 'face to face' as it is seen as confrontational.

Thanks have taught Dog 2 'quiet' now and we are getting somewhere. It was his barking that was turning Whippy into the hound from hell, now he stops barking on command Whippy will let him approach her quietly.

He's a clever wee thing. He's already learnt quiet and sit.
