After yesterday's horse and dog trauma we went out again and met some lovely people and dogs.

Maggie much better on the lead, very excited to start with but husband and I just stopped everytime she pulled - neighbours must have though we were mad as we crawled down the road stopping every other step but she got there eventually and we had a lovely relaxed walk with lots of praise when she was trotting along beside us. Went into a big field and did some recall and sit - all good and she stayed very close to us off lead. Back on lead, went for a walk met a couple with two greyhounds, I was a bit nervous so gave the lead to my husband as he is very unphased. Owners but their dogs on leads and introduced their dogs - all good. Saw three big dogs bouncing around in front of us and couple we were with said they will be fine the owners are dog trainers. However the trainers saw us in the distance, put their dogs on leads and turned back - how considerate, they obviously realised it was not the thing to do to come past us today. We carried on walking and saw another lady with her dog on the lead, she saw our puppy and came and introduced her dog, all nice and no nervous Maggie or mum! Maggie got a bit excited coming home, starting pulling again but it didn't take her long to realise that we were going back to the boring stopping and starting!

Did some work last night on sit, stay and come - Maggie very good but will see what she does at puppy class tonight! Unfortunately my husband can't come with me so I am going to try and not get nervous as I don't want her to think there is a reason to get nervous! And I won't pick her up once!

I am almost jealous of your puppy's social life Grin

Bast, where I live it's almost impossible to not have a dog! Loads of countryside, parks, dogs, horses etc and the puppy class is 10 seconds from my house in the village hall - so you can't help yourself getting out there and amongst it. Only thing I have to be careful of is not doing too much with her at this age :)

Puppy class was interesting - everything we had learn't went flying out the window she was absolutely manic at meeting all the other puppies and going to a party. When we got home she tore around the garden like a loon! It was like giving a child fizzy drinks and sweets, it was hilarious.

Just had a look at the pics, she is adorable. Is she a JRT?

Spamspamspam · 26/05/2011 21:00

Betty she is a Prason Russell Terrier - very much like a JRT but with longer legs :)

I knew what you meant Grin. She is very cute, will look like Nipper, the HMV dog when she's older.
