Switching from puppy food to adult

Our lab is just over 11 months and we are coming to the end of her 'junior' food. Have got the adult version of her food . As she is 'older' do we still have to be very careful and gradual in changing the food or as she is older can it be a quicker process ?

We are partway through changing. I waited until we had about 1 week's puppy food left then started feeding half and half. I reckoned if he had any adverse reaction within a couple of days it gave me enough puppy food to last me until I could buy something else to try. We have been doing this for about a week. I intend to increase the proportion of adult to puppy food over the next few days and finish off the rest of the puppy food.

I decided that the adult version has very similar ingredients but in different proportions, so probably wouldn't cause a problem, but I wanted to be on the safe side. The main difference is the size of the kibble - he has to chew it now - he can't just inhale it!

Yes do half and half now and increase the amount of adult food in the mix over a week or so. It's probably being quite cautious but it will reduce the chance of upset stomach. (you don't have a Labrador do you purplefrog - the comment about inhaling food seems strangely familiar) Smile
