Dog huffing and puffing, what is it?

My 9month old male Weimaraner Felix (see what I did there?) occasionally sits and sort of huffs and puffs. Like when someone is in tears and they can't catch their breath if you can envisage, his cheeks puff in and out at the time. He will do it for about 30sec, all the time still wagging his mad full length tail, he is fine before and after and isn't ill at all or out of sorts. Any one have any ideas why he might be doing this?

Mmm, could be. It's like a little trance he's in though. So far he's done it in the pub (ahem, it's an important part of his socialisation), sleeping next to the bed and just in the sitting room but with no real stimulus. Will keep an eye on triggers for it.

If he's in a trance it sounds like a mild fit. I knew a horse who did similar due to epilepsy although it could be anything! One of my dogs does the 'ufs' too, he looks like he's in a trance but he's just concentrating Smile

It might be reverse sneezing - there are videos on YouTube that you can compare to what he does, although you should get him checked by the vet if you're at all concerned.

Get vet to check his heart.
