We went to a village pub at the weekend and I thought we would be stuck in the garden, but we were allowed to take our boy in and he laid on the floor while we ate :)

So as a fairly new owner, Im not sure what other places dogs are normally allowed.
So where do you take your boys and girls?

We are just back from a holiday to Scotland, both our dogs were with us (as usual) and were made welcome. They spent the week swimming in the Sea, charging round the beach (luckily I know the area v well and chose 'non tourist' beaches) or were tethered outside on long lines with the boot to the Jeep open if they wanted to hop in - weather was beautiful and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed it!

Dogs are welcome most places I have found and take mine everywhere with me when out and about in our town. The more they are socialised the easier it becomes. I have to say my puppy was fantastic on holiday, settled down very quickly (we took her crate) and took her queue from 'the big boy' who make our holiday place his home straight away. Grin

"There is a lovely cafe on snowdon that allows dogs in too and dogs can travel on many of the steam railways around the area."

This sounds exciting as we're planning on camping a week in Wales (+ a week in Scotland) in the summer. We were going to go abroad but in the end I couldn't bear the thought of leaving the dogs! So I'm watching this thread for every suggestion going!

music I will check the name of the cafe with my DH as he goes to Snowdon regularly and he was most impressed

When we have been camping / self catering we have even managed to find little cafes that allow dogs in many villages and quite a few give the doggie a treat. Great if you decide not to cook or are checking out and need to eat offsite or the weather gets British!

Have a fab holiday, we are heading for the Cotswolds again this year the dog will have more luggage than me what with beds, food, towels etc.

"weather gets British!"

LOL, as I expect it will in Wales and Scotland!

We went to the Cotswolds on our honeymoon and I quite fancy going back. DH has three weeks off this summer and given the cheapness of camping (particularly if we cook and just do lots of walking) I'm thinking we might do a bit over 2 weeks and stop over at some other places en route.

Name of cafe in Snowdon would be great! DH loves mountain climbing. DDs and I will find a cafe very useful Grin

Was looking for roof racks etc today for said tent and took my dogs into Halfords. Asked the lady on the desk if it was OK, she smiled and said yes. No one batted an eyelid, despite the fact that Poppy, for some reason, thought it the most exciting place she'd ever been in and was sniffing the air like nothing else!

My lab always pees in pets at home. Always. Even if he's just had a wee. We go in and he cocks his leg up against the first pallet of dog food he comes across. It's embarrassing!
