finding a foster home for a year for my dog

Feeling a bit low and upset. My mum has been looking after my 2 dogs since my DH was posted abroad (we obviously went with him), we are in the middle east so advised not to bring dogs out here. We have been gone 18 months, go back to Uk for 12 weeks in Summer when we have dogs with us.
Mum has emailed me to say she does not feel up to having both dogs and i need to make other arrangements for our Great Dane, she is happy to keep the other dog.
we are posted here for another year and i don't know what to do!!
Sorry just needed to get it out and feel a bit angry which i know is unfair on my mum

can you tell me age of dog? is he/she neutered? can dog live with children/other dogs/cats? any health problems? do you have dog insurance? which part of the uk is dog currently living?

i am asking above as these are questions i will be asked. i have an organisation in mind but dont want to raise your hopes as foster places are in high demand

We have had her as a puppy, she came from the great dane adoption society near Boston lincolnshire.
She is 6 years old, neutered, no health problems and lives in south lincs. she is great with children, i have 4, used to living with other dogs , never been around cats.
I am going to speak to my sister and see if she can talk to my mum. Nothing has happened so wonder if she would change her mind, but feels like that is unfair and don't want to pressure her. My sister was very surprised at her email.

can i check you say dh posted abroad - is he forces?

TroubledPrincess · 29/04/2011 07:41

Hi
Can she be left alone (well with other dogs)? Three hours at a time max and not that often. Can she be let off the lead with good recall? Thanks

coccyx · 29/04/2011 08:14

Yes hubby is in forces. Me and children return for the summer, mid June to early Sept and we have the dogs with us then. So I have until September to make arrangements.
She has always been with other dogs, and is fine left for a few hours. I arranged for a dog walker a few times a week and she lets her off the lead to run.
I keep getting upset about it all, I am feeling a bit homesick at moment which doesn't help! Wish it was June so i would be back in UK.
