argh walking in park, got her on a lead as knew with the kids I couldnt really keep control fo her properly. saw 2 large dogs in distance so tried to hurry girls up so we didnt see them but kids woouldnt hurry up, thought it would be ok, cherry has been really snappy with other dogs lately and didnt want fight breaking out.
these 2 dogs were playing with each other, we wlaked past, dog one ran up to us and started being really rough (only playing) cherry started going for it but man caught it, man had hol.d of dog 2, he let go and dog 2 came running up to play, cherry already really stressed and started going for it properly, man couldnt get hold of dog and it was getting nasty so I lifted cherry by her collar to get her out of the way. it was only for a second before i got hold of her properly but could I have hurt her, she is sat in her bed looking a bit subdued but I think that is because I yelled at her.

didnt want to leave your post go unanswered but not sure. i would doubt it would hurt her. i suppose breed/age may be a factor in whether it hurt but i would think its more likely she is subdued because you shouted

how is she now?

I once had to pull my dog out of a river up a steep upright wall that banked the river. If I hadn't, I would have lost her, so I had no choice. It was much longer than a second and fairly traumatic. She was fine, toddled off playing fetch later, no problems at all. On the other hand , I was freaked RIGHT out Grin

OnEdge I also had to drag a dog out of water by its collar. The scrapes the manage to get into, eh? Grin

He repaid my kindness by snapping at my hand Hmm

It was my friend's labrador retriever. He'd followed my younger, much more agile GSD down some slippery steps onto the beach but he slipped off the steps into the rocks. The tide was coming quick and the water was fairly rough (my dog had been snapping at the waves coming onto the steps) and my friend panicked, understandably. There wouldn't have been time to get help. I wasn't strong enough to lift him so had to drag him out by his collar. It must have hurt him, which is why he bit me, but it didn't cause any permanent damage, to him or me.

The dog recovered from the shock much quicker than my friend and I did. He also dried much quicker than us.

We learned never to let our dogs off leash around strong currents or waves that day.

Op - I'm sure your dog is fine, but if she still seems quiet in the morning take her off to the vets for a quick check up, even if only to put your mind at rest.

thanks for the replys, she is fine. went to training last night and she was fine, must have been cause I yelled at her, she was still pulling so cant be hurt. didnt half panic me. the water stories sound really frightning, i think you just react in these situations and only worry afterwards. I took her back out for another walk so she didnt have bad associations with the park and spent ages making her say hello nicely to lots of different dogs. am hoping this snapping at other dogs is a teenage phase that with lots of extra socialisation she will grow out of.
