My sisters dog had athleats foot and she went to the vet and got some cream/powder to put on in.

my mums just found out her dog now has the same. her paws are red and wet and the dog is limping.

She knows my sister has some cream left over.. but she cant get to her today and was wondering if using human powder/cream would be totally wrong.

any idea?

There can be lots of reasons why a dog is red and wet and the dog limping. I would advise againist using meds that have been prescribed for one animal for another. Today I would wash the dogs foot in warm salty water and then dry it thoroughly and put a cotton sock on loosely to stop the dog licking. Then seeing the vet tomorrow. The range of problems could be fungal infection, bacterial infection, foreign body to name a few.

Yes, it is wring to use any anti-fungal human medicine on a dog, especially as it is on paws and can be licked. My dogs paws used to get bright red and irritated and after trying everything under the sun, like Malaseb shampoo etc, it was eventually considered he was the canine equivalent of a human nail-biter. We got this stuff to paint on his paws and it worked brilliantly, and his paws healed and he never bothered them again - BUT you do need vet advice. To put something to prevent licking and biting on paws which were driving the dog mad would be cruel. You need the problem identifying and treating by a vet Smile
