why do some dog owners think other people want their dogshit when they don't?

I just brought our wheelie bin in (I forgot yesterday) & there were FOUR bags of it in the bottom Angry

In the alley behind our house (the bins are emptied at the end of it) we often find little presents hanging on branches, gateposts etc too.

Why don't these people take it home & put it in their own bins? Do they think they've done their bit by picking it up so they don't need to go that little bit further? Confused

I wish I could booby-trap the bin so the next person who opens it in the alley after it's been emptied gets a surprise of their own! Grin

I have to admit I have tossed bagged poo into a skip before Blush but I would never put it into someone's household bin.

I don't understand how people think it is acceptable to throw the bags into trees. Weirdos.

fruitshootsandheaves · 06/04/2011 19:35

you should put a sticker on your wheelie bin that says

Beware of snake

that should stop it!

thisisyesterday · 06/04/2011 19:36

you should hide in the bin and leap out at them.

Ragwort · 06/04/2011 19:40

I'd far rather someone put their bag of dog poo in my bin than left it on the path for me to step in Grin - surely the more serious issue is why don't people pick up their dog's mess?

Ponders · 06/04/2011 19:40

oh yes, tiy - with camera in hand for added emphasis - imagine their surprise! Grin

BOE, skips just get picked up by a lorry & taken to the tip, I've no problem with that, but as you say 'someone's household bin' - ewww

fruitshoots, I might try that next time...

Ragwort, I agree bagged is better than unbagged but if they don't want it in their own bin why would they assume I'll like it in mine?

I never get why people bag it and then leave it, surely even worse than just leaving it.

Vallhala · 07/04/2011 08:11

I'd have no problem with someone putting bagged dogshit in my bin. Far rather that than have someone leave it on the ground and if it means that the owner doesn't have to grapple with that as well as a dog lead or two/handbag/buggy/ball lobber/whatever on a walk or doesn't have to carry it around with them for miles until they get home then I'm happy to let others use my bin to prevent it.

Don't see what the fuss is about myself... after all, those of us who have used disposable nappies would put them in the household waste.

Ephiny · 07/04/2011 08:25

I wouldn't mind either, as my own dog's bagged poo goes in the bin anyway. Though I tend not to put stuff in other people's wheely bins anyway as it doesn't seem very polite, and I'd always imagine they must be watching from behind their net curtains and tutting at me :)

I've never seen the bags left on the pavement, agree that seems a very odd thing to do. I'd probably pick them up and put them in a bin if I did see any. Lots of people around here seem to not bother picking up at all though Angry

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 07/04/2011 11:21

I would have no problem with a bagged poo in my bin (unbagged, yes), I have popped one into a wheelie bin that was not my own before too.

Technically it isn't your bin anyway, it belongs to your council.

Ponders · 07/04/2011 12:31

But I don't have a dog, and I mind having dog poo in MY bin (it's in my back yard so it's my bin, OK Wink)

Yes, I used to put disposable nappies in MY bin, but I never put them in someone else's Hmm

Maybe dog owners should get special little doggy backpacks to hold all those dogwalking accoutrements they don't have enough hands for...
