Are you using a furminator and Miele cat & dog?

silentcatastrophe · 05/04/2011 12:11

You may just have to get used to it and worry less about living in a perfectly clean house. Unless you have nothing better to doGrin

Vallhala · 05/04/2011 12:50

Furminator brush and a Dyson are my best buddies though others do swear by their Miele cat and dog vac.

The Dyson has a pet brush if your dog is tolerant of such things. Not cheap I believe but I'm told they're effective.

How do you think I feel, I have 3 large dogs, one of whom is a long haired white German Shepherd.... and a brown rug in my sitting room! :o

OnlyWantsOne · 05/04/2011 13:26

whats a furminator???

beautifulgirls · 05/04/2011 13:31

Furminator is a super groomer! here

TooManyBlossoms · 05/04/2011 13:53

frazzled welcome to my world Angry. No matter how much I brush/hoover my entire house is constantly covered in fur. We have wooden floors downstairs so the hair just gathers in huge balls around the edges of the room. The dyson picks it up no problem but as soon as I've finished there's another layer of hair gathering.

It just gets everywhere doesn't it. Behind radiators/underneath the bed (when the dog doesn't even go upstairs!) - I opened a sealed pack of butter the other day and I swear it had a dog hair in it already!

And breathe.....

Vallhala · 05/04/2011 14:22

Ah, TooManyBlossoms.... tumbleweed!

frazzled74 · 05/04/2011 18:44

It would seem that the Furminator is a comb with very sharp teeth. I have a dreadlock destroyer in my armoury, but that is only for getting rid of matts and certainly not for general grooming. Is ther Furminator for general grooming?

tibni · 06/04/2011 13:17

The furminator gets rid of the old undercoat of my lab - we have a bluetit that sits on the step waiting for his housing materials Smile. In fact we have the best groomed dog out as the dc love watching the bluetit collecting the fur.

We have a meile and I am just changing to hard flooring throughout downstairs as even with the meile and using a rubber brush everyday the carpet was always covered. I will still get the same amount of hair but it should be easier to clean up!

Shave the dog Grin It's infuriating isn't it? I hoover almost every day and get up enough hair to build another spaniel.

kid · 06/04/2011 18:18

I was hoping to come and find a magic cure to getting rid of all the hair, but, short of shaving the dog, looks like we just have to put up with living in a hairy house!

I swear our dog moults enough for us to make another spaniel too kirrinIsland Grin We even have a pile of dog hair collecting outside our street door!

poutintrout · 07/04/2011 11:03

I think that I mentioned this before on another thread and might get into trouble from more experienced dog owners for doing this but I hoover our dogs (obviously on a lowish suction setting & using a cylinder hoover!) . The dogs love it and follow me around waiting for their turn.

ellangirl · 07/04/2011 12:54

Any good microfibre type sweepers for hard floors? a normal brush does just flick the hair around!
