Came back from a lovely day out with the kids to discover someone had tried nicking my puppy while he was in the garden Sad
We always watch him while he's outside but my OH had literally been 2 minutes whilst he had gone to answer the front door as a neighbour knocked, luckily the neighbour noticed as my gate is at the side of my house so viewable if you look round the corner. Puppy went and sat in the back doorway which is suprising because he is sooo friendly and loves people. OH had gone out and they made some excuse about losing their dog and was checking to see if it was him Hmm
Definately getting him microchipped as soon as he hits 10 weeks!! I dont know why but this has really upset me.

I'm not surprised you're upset!

Is there any way you can improve security and make sure the pup can't access areas he could be taken from. It can take seconds, literally.

How did they know his name by the way? Does he have it on his tag?

He can be microchipped before that - just ask the vet now.

I dont know, OH said he may have called him in when the door knocked, OH had been in the garden for a while so if they were hovering around they could have heard him say it afew times. We've put a padlock on the gate now so noone can get in (they had opened the gate) We're an end terrace and theres a wall around the garden so they'd have to jump over it now.
Beautiful - I spoke to my vets they said 10 weeks but its only a week and a day away till he is, I can take him for walks as of Tuesday so hopefully he will start learning not to go to everyone. I'm quite glad he was sat in the doorway seems he was wary of them, I didnt know whether this was because they had irish accents? Would a dog notice? Lol.

No, dogs aren't racist, Baby.

Please make sure you report the attempted theft to the police and it might also be worth letting your local Dog Warden know. They will often know if this is a one off or part of a wider pattern.

My dog was dognapped whilst on a walk with his dog walker.

He had wandered through a hole in the fence into the garden of a house backing onto the park. The owner of the house tempted him into her kitchen and closed the door - she had him over three hours.

Thank goodness my dog walker saw him through the fence in her garden and knocked on the door. The woman said she was "just about" to call - hmmm after three hours I think not! By this time there were three of us scouring the area.

It happened so quickly and I don't know what I would have done if we hadn't found him. He's chipped and has my mobile number on a tag, I'm so careful now with him, he's rarely out of my sight.
