DH really likes them...he wants one...I'm wary of the breed due I confess to some horror stories in the media....are they ok? Does anyone have one?

I would advise against them- NOT because of any notion of aggression etc, but just due to the medical problems they can suffer due to being bred into the unnatural shape they are "supposed" to be Sad

These guys are predisposed to a myriad of complicated medical problems, most of which are related directly to their breeding, so I'd avoid them for that reason alone, I'm afraid

Well, that's good to know Dooin - It's good to think of dogs not being in kennels when there is no need. I personally wouldn't like to think of it as a trial, I suppose. Either foster, or adopt. Although, that said I adopted my foster Grin

Really Jooly? Sad

My last bull breed was a beautiful KC registered pedigree and he was a nightmare medically. All the same stuff I guess - all his grandparents going back generations are in the books showing the breed as first class examples, but line breeding comes with it's problems, I know that first hand. Although we got him before all the popularity/overbreeding came along, I could hand on heart say would never get a kc registered puppy again - rescue all the way.

(Fought for my old boy tooth, claw and wallet though. He lived a long and happy life Smile)

I don't want to foster really....DH is a very experienced dog owner...but I'm not...I just want a nice dog and DH likes ABs.

He will do the main caring while he teaches me to be a good owner.

He says they don't eat kids too! Grin

Well, if he's experienced and will teach you, go for it. They definitely don't eat kids as a rule.

There are loads in rescue. Please don't get a pup Smile
