I have a 7 month old Cavachon. He is really lovely. Very sweet. But he still likes to mouth, which is quite annoying. How do I stop this behaviour. He is not at all aggressive, just very playful and over enthusiastic with all visitors. Nothing I've tried so far has curbed this behaviour and some of my childrens friends perceive it as biting and makes them not like him or want to come round. Help please.

I had to google Cavachon and awww so so cute! Sadly I can't help because my dog mouths too, he doesn't do it as often and he's a lot gentler than he used to be, maybe your dog will grow out of it?

I'm hoping so. Someone said that puppies start to calm down at about a year old. I have had him neutered about a month ago and that did stop the amorous advances, which is good.

What have you tried so far?
We had awful problems with ours as he was seperated from his litter too early and so didn't learn bite inhibition. We found that yelping like a puppy when he made contact (EVERY TIME) sorted it out.

We tried the spray that you can get from pets at home, but I didn't like it. I think it made him worse, not better. He now barks at anything that sprays. Hairspray, deoderant, air freshener etc. We did do the yelping thing when he was really small, but that has just turned to shouting at him now. It's really difficult to get my daughters to keep doing it, they just get annoyed at him. I'll give it another go though.
