A family opposite have just acquired what looks like a Staffie, the poor thing is being left out in all weathers day and night and I can see it scratching at the back door constantly. The children are allowed to hit it also. I can see everything because the back of my house faces their back garden. I've been round and told them as they don't like the dog I'd be willing to take it. But oh no, it's for their children Angry. I'm not willing to just let this happen especially as I've lost 2 nights sleep thinking about the dog being out in the cold. Are there any agencies that aren't completely useless? Otherwise it'll have to be old school Wink
Why do people do this? I'm fuming! And I've had people telling me I'm over reacting. Yeah only a dog isn't it

you are not overacting, I would be the same as you. Other than the usual suspects (rspca) I can't think of any other agencies etc to call. I think it may have to be 'old school'. As an aside, a good friend of mine 'rescued' a dog in exactly the same circumstances as this and her dog was soooooooooooooooo lovely, unfortunately that was 15 years ago and she died in my friends arms this Christmas day, with much boo hooing from all of those who had the pleasure of knowing this gorgeous wee dogSad. Do what you think is right, there is no such thing as 'only a dog isn't it'!!!

Have been round again and threatened them with RSPCA, hopefully as they don't know anything about pet care they won't know the RSPCA won't do anything. Told them if their children get bitten it's not the dogs fault because they aren't supervising properly. They are doing the "no good English" thing at me which is irritating. The dog is indoors at the moment though so they do understand what I'm saying. If I see it out in the rain and wind again I'm taking it from their garden, end of. And I've given them some dog treats and ropes etc as there is nothing for the dog to do by the looks of it

Well done you. I would never settle and would only do so if dog was 'removed'. Can't see how the family will change to be honest

this sort of things makes me mad. count me in if you need any help with transport . .

The dog is still indoors, has only been let out to go to the toilet twice from what I've seen Shock. Will keep an eye on them, reckon they are just sick of the crazy dog lady knocking on their door! I give it 2 days and the dog will be back out there

how are things now spikey?

spikeycow · 09/02/2011 11:24

The dog is kept indoors at night, I've got a stable loving home lined up in Essex for the next time she's left out in the rain, which will definetely happen at some point. They are only keeping her in till they think I've gone away, I just know it
