DH took our Lab out for a walk earlier today. When he opened the boot for her to get in she, being a little too keen, jumped in before it was fully open and knocked her back on the door. For about 30 seconds she stayed still (half in / half out of the boot) with her front legs splayed. DH was very concerned and picked her up. She then seemed to recover and went on to have a "usual" walk (running around like a loony!!) She has not shown any signs of pain / tenderness in the area. However, me being paranoid, I examined her back earlier and there appears to be a "dip" to the shape of her spine. Is this the usual shape? She doesn't seem to be in pain.......would she be if she'd damaged her back? Am I worrying unnecessarily (?sp) or should we get her looked at?
Thank you x

She will be fine, she probably bloody hurt herself, think of how you might have reacted. Not sure what you mean by dip in spine but dogs spines are not dead straight. If she had damaged her spine enough to dent it then you would know about it! lol. I really don't think she has a problem and i absolutely wouldnt be paying £30 to have someone tell me that - just keep an eye on her over the next few days. Maybe consider a doggie ramp to get in and out of car?

Thank you!
That was my logical train of thought.........and then came the irrational "have we broken the dog"?!
Have also googled "dog spine" and the pics show the general shape......just like I can feel it! Blush
I am a bit of a worrier............but didn't want to rush off to the vet, wasting their time and my money. Grin
I imagine it felt to her a bit like when you stand up without realising the kitchen cupboard is open.........ouch!!
Doesn't help that on telling my "glass-half- empty" friend earlier about what had happened she had a horror story to tell along the same lines Sad
Thanks again!!

I'd find a new friend! i know its a bit late now but i'm sure she was just fine. Bet it hurt though.

LOL LadyAlex!!
Friend is lovely, but does always manage to put a negative spin on things.
Don't think she realises she's doing it Confused
Poor little dog........she's so "there", wherever you are-she's always being tripped over, walked into, etc, but this must have been very painful Sad
Seems fine now though, after lots of "guilt cuddles" and treats!!
Thank you x
