We have had our little pup for a week now and all is going great. No accidents, he goes outside, however we are noticing a doggy smell in the house when we get home. Any ideas/tips on how to keep the house smelling fresh?

I've been using those Haze? or airwicks...whatever they are called these days. They are on special offer at tesco for 1.50 (I think)

Mmmmm love the smell of puppy. Its old lab rolling in fox poo that I could do without

i hate artificial, chemical smells. i use white vinegar to neutralise smells - a bowl of vinegar will absorb smells, i also use vinegar solution to wash both hard flooring and carpet.

if i want fragrence i use essential oils, i make up my own room sprays (essential oils diluted in vodka and water).

There's v good stuff called Simple Solution - bit like febreze for furniture, rugs etc, but specially for doggie smells.
Works a treat, not cheap but I've tried everything and this is good,

This stuff is really good.

Frebreze do a spray that you can use on pet bedding if necessary.

I tend to try and wash doggys bedding once a week .

Also we have no carpets downstairs so dont get much of a doggy smell.

I do use alot of air freshers and sprays Grin

Basics - take out carpet downstairs - they are a trap for dirt, fleas and smells. Wash doggy bedding regularly at the hottest possible temperature. Wash loose covers on furniture/quilts/throws/washable rugs regularly. Air thoroughly every day, even in winter. Dust thoroughly at least twice a week. Wash down windows/doors where snout art/ tail painting has been added. As well as hoovering, mop thoroughly every week with spot cleaning in between with wipes. By doing all this, house usually smells fine, although hounds can usually undo my good work once they start farting. Blush

I can't stand those plug in things - make me feel sick - but do light a scented candle quite often in the evening.
