We pick up our new puppy on saturday and i wanted to know the best way to actually bring in home in the car.

We will have about an hours drive. What did everyone else do?

We got a large cardboard box (low sides so dc's could rub him to reassure him on the way home) & lined it with black bags & put blankets inside , we had a 2 hour drive to collect our pup . Maybe bring a bowl for water / food .
What breed of dog are you getting ? Smile

We had a 45 minute drive. He travelled on a towel on dd's lap on the back seat (dd is 12). We had more towels and kitchen roll on hand just in case...

We are getting a cockapoo.....we are all so excited. I was thinking of cuddling him on my lap with a blanklet

Aww cuddling him on your lap would be good , just make sure you wear waterproof clothing Wink my pup piddles when he's nervous /excited lol

I had my first on my lap having a big cuddle - he hid his muzzle in my armpit the whole time! Then as we pulled into the driveway he was sick all down the side of the seat. Never did get it all out...

Second one explored the back seat and climbed all over aforementioned now-grown-up pup.

Now have seatbelt clips for their harnesses but I would say he'd probably like the cuddle best. :)

We had a really long drive and I just sat in the back seat with pup on my lap the whole way home. He snoozed most of the way, and wasn't once sick or weed, although had him on my lap on a towel (that I'd rubbed on his mum) and with plenty of kitchen towel/wipes to hand just in case.

Our breeder said there's not much point stopping for a water/wee, because it'll be his first time away from home, prob first time he's been asked to toilet with a collar on, and he can't go on the ground, just push on until you get home! ACtually it was hours once I got home until he finally went... certainly made up for it since though!
