Are you a dog or a bitch person ?

Just wondered. We have just chosen a gorgeous little boy from a litter of 2 boys and 5 girls. Everyone that we know lately that has got a puppy seems to have gone for a bitch. One friend even sounded a little bit surprised when we said that we had chosen a little boy. The bitches seem to be more expensive in some litters as well. Is this because people breed from them ? In peoples experience do they find that there is much difference in temperament between a dog and a bitch. Just wondered because we have two young children. Thanks everyone.

Our dog was very attached to DP in particular when we first got him, he couldn't even leave the room for a moment without the poor dog instantly jumping up and trying to follow him, and whining and howling if he wasn't allowed. I think that might have just been rehoming anxiety though, as now he's settled down he's very affectionate and cuddly with me too and with everyone he knows really.

I'm more of a dog person as in my experience they do seem more affectionate and loving and interactive, whereas bitches can be a bit more aloof and self-contained. It depends a lot of the individual of course.

Always had bitches. My mother and her mother before her bred labs and always said the bitches made the best pets.

My very first canine companion was a bitch, I was a single girl then and she saw me as real competition with my boyfriends who she would make eyes at, show off for, snuggle up to and encite them to play silly games with her. Eventually I got married and DH was not her greatest admirer so she became closer to me - though she continued to vie with me for attention from my mother for her whole life.
The two dogs we have had since have been far more straightforward characters, one rather more devoted to DH and one to me, but far less trouble ( and slightly less fun, I must say) than darling Boots.

Have always preferred dogs, our last bitch was a complete....bitch. Have always found that the girls are more moody but maybe we have just been unlucky
