Help with the 'off' command - as in get off the bloody table!

Lola springer, 4 months now, new challenge for us is she can now leap up, two paws onto dining table. Yesterday leapt onto top of crate, and from there started to get onto worktop. Crate now moved....

She takes pens, serviettes, a satsuma off the table, newspaper... Leaps up at the worktop as I'm preparing food. Only at high energy moments.

So - we are doing OK with many of the clicker commands, she has pretty good recall, will leave it, stay. Is there a way to use the clicker treat method to go with 'off' when she is leaping up like this? Or is that an expectation too far?

At the moment it's either a shouted OFF!!! (or worse), or we ignore, then praise like mad when four feet back on the floor. ie we are not being consistent. We try not to chase for unimportant items as we don't want to make a game.

Tips really appreciated.

Sounds as though you are doing well! You could click as soon as her feet touch the floor again & then treat. You could even encourage paws up without a treat (maybe on a box or other furniture to avoid her thinking paws on table / worktop is good) then click for paws off. Add the off command once she knows what to do, not before - otherwise it just becomes noise to ignore.

oh thanks fuzzysnout, thought that post had died a death due to being a) ridiculously obvious or b) far too complicated!

So, we'll focus on your method, introduce the word (minus swearing) again later, and interesting idea to encourage paws up onto something else - much appreciated.
