Should I take puppy to the vet?

I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered this, this afternoon Belle, my 14 week old cockapoo, vomited and there seemed to be, what I thought were translucent beads, that in thought she must have eaten, in it but when I pressed them to check that they were hard, they burst. What could these have been? There was also some, what looked like mucus, in there too. Any ideas?

I wouldn't my pup to the vets for vomitting once if that was the only symptom.
I would take them if they had vomitted several times, if they were acting ill or if I had seen them eating something I believed was toxic to dogs.

I have no idea what the beans could have been. Have you had a look around your house and garden to see if there is any sign of any suspicious looking remains of the beans?

No nothing around the house, they were like BEADS, but just popped when I pressed them. I was afraid that it could be larvae of some kind.

Like those sachets of beads that you find in shoe boxes that soak up moisture perhaps?

It doesn't sound like larvae... I am not an expert though!

Sounds like she's been eating some sort of berries, like small under-ripe plums or something. How big were they?

assumpta · 09/10/2010 22:34

They were about the size of a holly berry, but translucent. Could they be worm eggs or something really horrible like parvovirus. I think my mind is on overdrive. Ahe is fine eating and drinking. Her poos are a bit soft, but not diarrhoea.

Unlikey worms or parvovirus from that description but I would be very concerned as to what she has eaten. You need to call the vet and get her thoroughly checked out if she is stil unwell this morning. If by any chance you still have some of the stuff she vomited take it in.

This morning she is full of life. Unfortunately she is biting really hard and being growly. I have taken her for her walk and she has had a good run around the garden. Her poo is hard to begin with but then she does quite a lot of really soft bits when she is finishing off. Is this normal? Or why do you think this is? Thanks.
