Couch or Floor

We have a lovely 13 week old cockapoo, who is very cute and looks at us with beautiful brown eyes as she is sitting by our feet on the floor. We have not allowed her up on the couches so far, but ove the last 3 or 4 days she has been constantly jumping up and stretching out on them. Each time I have taken her off and put her on her mat, said 'on your mat' and given her a treat. When my daughter tried to take her off she got really cross and growley. Should I just leave her on there?

ALL not letting your dog on the sofa teaches it is that it is not allowed on the sofa.

It is up to the indivdual whether or not they allow their dog onto sofas (or beds or whatever). It isn't likely to suddenly and miraculously re-inforce or undo all your hard work training your dog.

If puppy is growling, a houseline is a good idea. Also, teach your child to stay away from sleeping dogs, that way, the dog can' be suddeny woken and left feeling grumpy. Don't worry about the growling, it is simply a way of saying 'I don't like that' for dogs and is a good thing as it means you can work on whatever it is.
