Can anyone suggest why my daughters Irish staffie has suddenly taken to carrying a ball around this week ,when normally she chews them up in seconds. She seems to love this ball and wont go anywhere without it being in her mouth,She isnt biting it or wanting you to play with it with her ,simply just carrying it around. She is 3 yrs old.We are very puzzled ,its almost like its a puppy she is moving around.

ok i will look for the thread and read the info.

Thanks - Staffies in particular are probably the most plentiful dogs in rescues. At least of the ones that are lucky enough to make it to rescue. Ask Vallhala (Valhalloween) for more info, or Scuttlebutter. They are both involved in rescue and know the statistics much better than me.

i can understand that actually as so many people are fearful of staffie dogs.i will put the concerns to my dd as i know she would not want her dog to suffer in any way through having a litter. So if she is spayed it helps to reduce risk of cancer ? am i reading that correctly ?

Yes, it does. It also removes the risk of a potentially fatal womb infection (pyometra) which can occur in any entire bitch. I neuter all my dogs for this reason.
