Dog Walking Wellies

I am thinking of investing in a new pair of Wellies for dog walking,we live in the country so there is a fair bit of footpath and cross fields type of walking .I was wondering about some Muck boots with the neoprene lining ,have some very old Hunters at the moment which are no longer waterproof or warm so need to do something before the weather gets really cold/wet

Does anyone have muck boots or can you recommend some others ?

Well wellie well... My new boots arrived today! And they fit! They're Hunters (yawn), but I spoke to lots of wellie suppliers, and they said either Hunters or MuckBoots had the least problems. I asked if MuckBoots were any good at brambles, and they said possibly not. So... Here I am, in my mid 40s with my 1st pair of Hunters. If they don't last, you will all know!!!!

Resurrecting this as looking for a replacement for my Hunters. They were crap - lasted 18 months. They have started to perish on top of one of the feet. They also had no grip.

Anyway have been looking at Aigle. I had normal Hunters in a size 5, so would a size 5 in Aigle parcours be ok? I don't understand the difference between the Aigle Ladyboot and the Aigle Parcours?!Do I not need the vario?

Help me as it's peeing down, need to walk the dog and want some new wellies for the weekend.

My hunters have been totally crap too, bought them in August and one has worn through on the heel already. I'm thinking of the Crocs wellies now Blush.

Thank you BMR.

Vjg13 - they are shocking aren't they. Mine lasted a bit longer than yours, but I find them so slippy. When I'd bought them I'd heard good things about them and how they lasted for 10 years.

Another vote for MuckBoots, really comfy and warm

pigsinmud · 11/11/2010 12:00

Don't try and sway me now Macdog!

Do all Muckboots have that neoprene part on the leg? How does that cope with deep puddles and snow?

exexpat · 11/11/2010 12:07

I just got some groundwork muck boots for dogwalking this winter - pretty cheap on Ebay, about £25 including postage. I've seen quite a few people out walking in them, so I'm hoping they'll last a while.

Muck boots here too. Mine are the tyne riding boots, so taller and not so wellie like sole. However wore them all last winer to walk dogs and were great with the snow and ice. Kept feet warm and cosy. Neoprene is waterproof, too.

Actually I've started to wear my neoprene wetsuit gloves for riding and dog walking as I hate having cold wet hands.
