My dog stole something from the village shop, oh the shame!

I just don't know what to do with her, she's like a delinquent teenager.

She escaped from my garden yesterday while I went out to pick up DS from preschool. She ran around the village, into the pub, did wheel of death around the pub a couple of times (which included jumping on the tables). My neighbours were having lunch in the pub and followed her out and across the road into the shop were she was caught red pawed stealing some sweets. They very kindly brought her home for me.

How can I show my face in the shop or pub again!

brill lol.

we used to have to keep out dog in on bin days when i was a kid, she would get in the bins before the binmen could get them. Turfing it all out, and she'd come home stinking. If you turned your back for a moment she'd escape, over the fields and up the village. My mum had to go up in the car and get her.

She was a scottie and a brill dog!!

fab story Grin Grin

At the risk of sounding a miserable old cow, rather that than have to show your face at the vets, dog pound or pet crematorium.

No dog should be left unattended in a garden - just look at the number of dogs which are stolen from gardens or even house break-ins on DogLost alone to see why I say this. I'm a rescuer and have almost daily appeals to help find dogs stolen from owner's gardens.

Please, don't leave her unattended in your garden, ensure it's secured and get her trained... before you end up with a dog in the pound and the choice of a large fee to recover her or never seeing her again, perhaps knowing she will be PTS there/a stolen dog/a dog injured in a RTA or causing injury to others or a dead dog.

I do feel sorry for her sometimes because she is like a prisoner in this house, in that she is always looking for any opportunity to escape and run away.

We have taken her to training she even has a certificate for obedience! Then did say when they gave it to her, that she was just getting a bit big to keep coming though.

We do need to find out where she got out and secure it. As for anyone stealing her, they would have to be a complete numskull to do that.

Lol at "wheel of death" Grin

Vallhala · 21/09/2010 14:13

Poor dog! :o Why would anyone have to be a complete numbskull to steal such a smartass pooch? :o

Loved this story Grin but am now going to dust off the well used soap box and remind you to get out into that garden and make it escape proof! Your poor woof could have been run over, or even worse banned from the pub, for not standing her round and leaving muddy paw prints on the seats. And as for stealing sweets, imagine explaining to your DC, "Yes we are going to visit Fido, she's doing a stretch in a nice place that will help her be a better dog" and she'll be wearing an attractive stripy shirt and sending you letters on this distinctive paper.....

Grin my grandmas dog once jumped through the butchers window Shock

pinkbasket · 21/09/2010 17:32

What sweets did she steal and have you paid for them?Grin

booyhoo · 21/09/2010 17:49

class story.

you do know the obedience is all good and well, but you can't expect her to be obedient when no-one is watching Grin

JaxTellersOldLady · 22/09/2010 12:03

Sounds like your dog is bored. Can you get her into Agility/flyball or similar to 'work' her energy off.

Please dont leave her in the garden alone, I would never do that, even though I have a 6 foot fence all round I KNOW that if he really wanted to my dog could jump over and escape. And how awful would you feel if it got ran over?

I did chuckle at pinching sweets! Grin

darcymum · 22/09/2010 16:03

She had her face in the pick and mix apparently, I went to the shop today and the owner didn't seem overly amused but I didn't have to pay for the sweets.

Our local greengrocer has a section at the back for pets.Hubby had her out and she ran right in stole a pigs ear and ran out the back door with hubby in pursuit.I was the one that had to go and apologise and pay for stolen goods, shopkeeper wouldn't take the money as it was the best laugh they had in ages.

OrmRenewed · 23/09/2010 20:53

I hope you are going to make her pay for it out of her pocket money
