Our in-season bitch is sad...........is this a normal symptom?

Our 2 1/2 yo Choc Lab (who we've had for 16 days) has been in season for 14 of those days.
Until today she's been 100% perfect, settling in really well.
However, today she's been off her food (refused breakfast and tea, and several rewards offered to her for staying/recall, etc) and generally sad :(
I know it's early days for us, but she's normally so happy/fun loving.
Is this a symptom of being in season or do you think it might be related to her new home/family?

It could be either or a combination of both. At day 14 of her season, she might be ovulating, so could be uncomfortable.

I would try and occupy her and be kind with her, but don't overly make a fuus of her. If you are walking her you must be extremely careful about this, especially around days 10-18.

Are you aware of pyometra? It is a potentially fatal womb infection that most often occurs a couple of months after a season. You need to be extra vigilant after she has just had a season.

Thanks midori1999-may well be discomfort from what you're saying..........she's very sad and seeking out quiet places to rest.
We are keeping her on her lead on walks at the moment and avoiding other dogs.
Haven't heard of pyometra.....what should we be looking out for?
Also, we would like to get her spayed, once this season is over. Would you reccommend it?
Thanks again.

Some info on pyometra here:

You need to wait until midway between seasons to spay, no real reason not to.
