Much happier with him. And the dog is much happier too.
His techniques aren't cruel or related to trying to be 'alpha male'. Just to be confident with the dog and take control.
We worked on pulling on the lead mainly and a bit on how he behaves when he sees other dogs.
When he pulls on the lead I have to turn in a circle with him pulling him back to my side and saying 'Do not pull'. If he starts straining at the lead to get to another dog I have to ignore the fact that the other dog is even there. The other dog is not the issue. he issue is that he is pulling on the lead when he is not allowed to.
We have to start using his crate again to combat the weeing and barking on a night and to give him somewhere that is his room so that he can get away from the children when he is getting agitated with them.
The only punishment should be a squirt of water to distract him from his behaviour when he is doing wrong.
But I need to be on my toes and keep up with the training because I only live around the corner from him so he will be calling round between sessions to check up on us
And he thinks Devil dog is not a devil dog, but quite a good little pooch who just needs some boundaries in place and he will respond well to training.
