I'm puppysitting a 9 week old American Bulldog for 2 weeks.

I've owned dogs and grown up with them, but it's been some time since we had a pup at home.

I'd appreciate some tips about how best to handle issues such as biting, digging on the rug,and jumping up,particuarly biting.

He's a lovely dog but he's been here for three hours and I'm already exhausted.

TIA

I remember the puppy play biting well. Needle sharp milk teeth and lots of holes in clothes Smile

We found that a sudden high pitched "ouch" mimicking a puppy's yelp and immediately stopping play with puppy and turing back on him worked well. they soon learn that biting a) hurts and b) the other person / dog stops play.

When the puppy jumps up, turn your back on him. He's jumping up to try to look at you face to face. After turning your back on him, he should settle, then drop down to his level and make a fuss over him. If he jumps up again, repeat. It won't be long before he realises that jumping up doesn't get the desired result.

Not sure what to suggest about the rug though Sad

Good luck and hope that's of use.
