The Happy Place Café and Tilly's dog wash is still open.

Morning and welcome.

To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.

There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.

The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).

In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.

Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.

Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.

Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.

Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.

There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Now to breakfast.

I thought a little trip to Germany would fit this morning so Florence is making bread rolls, soft and crusty, Leo is baking / frying / boiling eggs and Fernando is serving Apfelkorn.

I put out a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, jam, nutella, marmalade and if you want that abomination that people wither love or hate, it is in a locked box in the garden, far from the café, that is where it is to be consumed.

Actually I watched a vid from 'Atomic Shrimp' the other day that featured the brown paste added to warm milk.

So for a change lets head to Austria. Florence is making schwarzbrot, semmel and croissants. I'm hoping she will make some pastries later.

I'll put out honey, butter, jam, ham and cheese.

Leo is scrambling eggs and Fernando has a range of fruit schnapps.

I'm not going to open the café today. I can't talk about kittenbees and bumblecats when there are people dead and in hospital in Manchester.

If anyone wants to open it then that's fine.

I did put a message yesterday and then I didn't post it.

Basically I want to reopen but it seems disrespectful to go from those horrible events to breakfast so I'm just going to serve tea and toast, with a few herbal teas.

I think I'll keep this low key for a while so I'll put Leo on eggs (as if I could stop him) and I'll just stick to tea (including herbal and fruit) toast and coffee.

I’ve got a bad cold, so I’ll have a rummage in Fernando’s cupboard for something strong.

A new cat, of course I want to see it.

Here’s 5 month old Tabasco. She likes playing with feet and rolling on laps. Was feral until 3 months old, so we expect she’ll be an excellent hunter.

Aw I like the good natured ones. Mine puts up with a lot.

Tea and toast will be great at 4.30. I’m in bed with my dog. My old lady cat is no longer with us and I miss her every day. Cats bring a certain je ne sais quoi and I’d have another black cat in a heartbeat
I was poorly all weekend and now just generally fed up.

I’m sorry to hear about your cat @tattoonewbie . Our house didn’t feel right until we got another one.

So they are sending me for more tests / scans.

Well I smell coffee and the porridge looks good so I'll just add some fruit and then I may have a rolled omelette courtesy of Leo.

Thank you @ImDoneOnceAndForAll I'm off for an endoscopy on Sunday, I am not looking forward to it.

I think today we should head for Spain for tostada con tomate, pincho de tortilla, qroissant do almendras and obviously Florence is making churros, Fernando is serving sangria.

Leo is visiting the goats, I think he might be feeding them eggs.

Lets head to Croatia for polenta, corn bread made by Florence with lard to spread on top with a sprinkling of paprika. Fernando is serving rakija.

@sashh a vague clinic? That doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it?
And now a endoscopy , you have had to put up with more cameras than a red carpet event , I hope it goes as well as them things can.

I don't think I have ever tried polenta , what do you do with it ?
I will skip the lard on corn bread but if my Dad was still around he'd certainly give it a go.
His Saturday breakfast was his treat to himself, very thick slices of toast spread generously with lard out of the chip pan topped with very hot tinned tomatoes.

I will stick with a couple of soft boiled eggs and coffee please.
