We know dealing with colic is very challenging for parents and it can be hard to know how to help your baby. If you’ve experienced colic, we’d love to hear your advice for dealing with it. Whether it’s little tricks that helped soothe your baby, product recommendations, or coping strategies for parents, a little support goes a long way.

  • Post your tips and advice in the thread below to be entered into the prize draw
  • One lucky Mumsnetter will win a £200 gift voucher

Here’s what MAM has to say:

‘We’re MAM and we love babies. We believe that only the best is good enough for them! That’s why for over 45 years we’ve been developing extra-safe baby products that combine attractive, innovative design with proven medical benefits. Our Easy Start Anti-Colic bottle provides parents with the best possible protection against colic and makes it easy to switch between breast and bottle feeding. So, parents can feel confident, and babies feel good.’

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I used the Mam anti colic bottles with mine but my daughter was particularly colicky! My mum swore by an old wives tale of sitting her upright on our knee and rubbing her back whilst moving her in a circular motion as if she was hoola hooping (she'd often bring wind up this way). Once she was a bit more settled we'd then swaddle her and my mum then suggested another old wives tale of putting a warm hot water bottle on her tummy. We bought an extra small one just for this purpose. It seemed to work. I also bought those colic drops - but I'm not sure they did anything - and I'm not a fan of using medicines if I can help it.

When she was a little older, I did Baby Massage and they suggested the I Love You massage on her tummy to release trapped wind which also was really successful.

We found massage of our baby's tummy really helped... gentle, circular motions seemed to dislodge the colic and help settle him down.

Get yourself some noise cancelling headphones and some valium and wait 6 months?
Honestly all the 'cures' are absolute snake oil.
