Please say I'm not the only one who remembers this fondly! I might even have to dig out the novel.
I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I am CBS Drama's target audience, what with Dynasty and Moonlighting as well. I feel like I should be younger than that...

Love love love Thorn Birds- so tragic and wonderfully acted. Don't have CBS though, just freeview.

MrsJamin - don't you mean "so tragically acted?" I mean, Rachel Ward. Come on!!!

I confessed to my DH this week that CBS Drama was becoming my "guilty pleasure" after watching all three series of North and South on it in the last month.

I have been watching Thorn Birds too because I remember it vaguely from youth.

Am so tempted to spend all Sunday morning in front of Dynasty too, but so far have resisted the temptation.

Loved it too, a young Richard Chamberlain, yum. Got me thinking about Peyton Place, must dig out the book.....

I loved The Thorn Birds, but agree about Rachel Ward though. She was bloody awful!

The remaining 4/5 episodes are on CBS Drama this coming Saturday night, folks. DH has already admitted defeat and is drawing up plans for watching something else on his laptop.

Loathe loathe loathe it!

Hated the title character-she cared about no one but herself-I don´t see it as a romance at all.

It's on now!

diddl She did care about her brothers and father, I'd say, and she genuinely loved Father Ralph but got very bitter and frustrated when it was clear she couldn't have him. Plus Luke / Bryan Brown turned out to be an awful husband. I don't think you necessarly have to see it as a romance, but as a historical drama - a woman's place in society of the time.
