On now. Makes me feel about 15 again. Not sure if that's a good thing!

Fab film if you saw it for the first time in the eighties.

TBH, I'm not sure if I saw it for the first time now I would love it as much as I do.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 16/05/2010 00:44

What channel? I loved this film. I think you have to watch it first aged 15 to really get it (bit like Catcher in The Rye- if you don't read it in your turbulent teens you will never understand why it is a classic)

"you see us as you want to see us" So profound (when you are 15!) But fun to watch again

TopsyKretts · 16/05/2010 00:54

Pile of poo.

LadyBiscuit · 16/05/2010 00:58

BBC2. Fabulous (but I am v elderly)

hmc · 16/05/2010 00:59

I loved it when I was a teenager. Got to remember that this is the target audience and not us cynical care worn adults!

Rockbird · 16/05/2010 01:01

Was just thinking that, hmc. What seemed so deep and meaningful at 13 is, with hindsight, a load of teenage angsty bollocks. But good fun

CLASSIC

PrettyCandles · 16/05/2010 01:05

Awww I've always loved it. Loved it so much that I wore out my first video of it! Still enjoy it, tho have to pretend a bit now.

Who did you identify with? Ally Sheedy for me - god knows why!

Poshwellies · 16/05/2010 01:05

CLASSIC!

Love all the brat pack films,I feel 13 and love it

Poshwellies · 16/05/2010 01:07

DH just said to me 'you're Ally Sheedy'

She was odd but cute

Rockbird · 16/05/2010 01:09

She was the most interesting and the one I thought I was.

Judd Nelson is a bit of alright through, and about 25 in this so old enough to still fancy

Classic! This was my favourite film as a teen - I must've seen it more than 20 times and used to play Simple Minds at full volume when not watching the film (my poor parents!).

Not sure how I would feel about it though if I watched it now. Best let the past stay in the past and enjoy the memories

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2010 12:33

Both. It's a classic film that would probably seem like a pile of poo to many teenagers if they watched it for the first time now.

Hate the unnecessary makeover.

BigBadMummy · 16/05/2010 12:35

Love love love love it.

This and Ferris Bueller remind me of the 80s and it has to be one of my all time favourite films.

Sad I missed it last night.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 16/05/2010 12:38

I watched it for the first time about a year ago. I thought it was great but I can see how good it would have been in the 80's, like Back To The Future etc. I like old films though

borderslass · 16/05/2010 13:02

loved all the brat pack films got most on dvd thanks to dd1 she loves all the 80's films and music. Also ended up with a simple minds cd as she went out and got it to put on her ipod and gave me the cd.

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 16/05/2010 13:20

I've never seen it, was a bit before my time, but I keep meaning to watch it. Would I appreciate it watching it for the first time at a 29 year old?

LittleWhiteWolf · 16/05/2010 13:27

Classic. I watched it late at night when I was 15 with a group of girls and we were so pumped full of teenaged rebellion we couldnt sleep for hours.

lorelilee · 16/05/2010 13:31

It's absolute class and, yes, Judd Nelson is absolutely gorgeous in it. St Elmo's Fire, too, is brilliant.

LadyBiscuit - there's one thing

pissovski · 16/05/2010 23:00

Classic

I was too young for it when it came originally, but saw it 1992/3 (age 14/15), after having seen Weird Science and Pretty in Pink (and completely loving Andrew McCarthy). I loved the film, hated the makeover (much better as she was) and adored Judd Nelson (phworrrrr)

Showed it to some 16 - 18 year olds a few years back and they mostly loved it
