"Fox news - you're the lupus of news". Just brilliant.

Yes - I think I once started a thread on how much I loved it, hoping to start a wave of Daily Show love, but only had about 3 people post on it.

I love Samantha Bee, but am not so keen on the interviews (book promos) at the end.

I must admit I haven't watched it as much since Barack Obama got in.

duckyfuzz · 21/04/2010 20:54

love it, btu don't actually watch it that often for some reason, must try harder!

defineme · 21/04/2010 20:54

Watching it now thinking how good it is. So is that 3 of us again that like it?

Habbibu · 21/04/2010 20:57

That interview with John O'Hara was so bloody refreshing. John Stewart for President, anyone?

I love it. Jon Stewart is (one of) my secret crushes.

hazeyjane · 21/04/2010 21:02

I missed tonights show, as dh is playing a hugely important game of football on his x-box, and I am listening to Mark Radcliffe.

He definitely gets my vote.

hazeyjane · 21/04/2010 21:04

High fives the other 4 fans.

(Misses because English people not very good at high fiving.)

Habbibu · 21/04/2010 21:05

Actually, I quite like the book promo interviews; tonight's was really good, hj. I'm reading one of the books I bought after watching Daily Show atm.

I think I have an exaggerated sense of embarrassment! Sometimes they just seem a bit uncomfortable to me, and then Jon Stewart does that high pitched giggle, and I have to turn over. I agree the books do usually look very interesting though.

Habbibu · 21/04/2010 21:14

Well, yes, sometimes they just don't work, but the ones where he gets his teeth into it, you just wish it could go on.

I am a huge fan and DH and I watch it every night (we record it on SkyPlus and watch it a bit later). I am a transplanted American though.

YanknCock · 21/04/2010 21:25

Huge fan, been watching since the show started more than 10 years ago! Jon Stewart really made it what it is, the previous host was not terribly memorable. Thank goodness it got on More4 so I could stop illegally downloading it.

True story, I went to a reading in London for 'America The Book', saw Jon Stewart walking by me afterward, was so surprised I fell over, and he helped me up .

I might have told him I loved him

Habbibu · 21/04/2010 21:27

No shame in that, Yank.

For all teh comedy, what I really love is how it's very articulate and politically astute - JS has real skill in getting to the heart of an argument.

Ooh - guest host on the Today Programme. Wouldn't that be fab? Or a double-header PM with Eddie Mair?

ByTheSea · 21/04/2010 21:33

I love that too Habbibu.

ouryve · 22/04/2010 19:38

I love it and especially love Jon Stewart and even manage to watch it occasionally. I often end up going to put the kettle on during the interview at the end, though.

ouryve · 22/04/2010 21:46

And that bit just now about the election debates is exactly what I love about it!

DorotheaPlenticlew · 23/04/2010 09:34

Oh I love it too. We watch it most nights.

Stewart really impresses me with his skill at debating -- love it when he gets into the denser parts of an argument with some manipulative Fox type and really penetrates past the waffle. They always seem surprised. I don't know why, he does it time after time

Anyone see the interview with Jim Cramer last year? Fantastic.

I also really like the "senior black correspondent" -- not Wyatt Cenac, the older guy, can't remember his name but he's really funny. Other correspondents a bit variable IMO; I would like to find Sam Bee more amusing than I actually do.

AppleTreeWick · 23/04/2010 12:13

Another fan here for the Daily Show. The stuff on our Election last night was good fun but I really like it when he's "teasing" into a Repubican best of all.

It's a bit hit and miss sometimes but when it is good it is rip roaringly good.

anonacfr · 23/04/2010 17:11

I love the Daily Show.
I used to fancy Jon Stewart back in the days when he was on MTV!

I love the fact that even though it's a parody show, they cover serious issues better than most news channels.
And of course when they rip Fox News. Anyone saw the episode where Stewart totally destroyed Glenn Beck's 'theory' on progressivism? It was genius!

I also loved John Oliver in Hawaii covering some kind of Republican conference.

The best bit for me though is the occasional linkup with Colbert at the end of the half hour. I just wished they showed the Colbert report on UK TV. They did for a while but then stopped.

wilbur · 23/04/2010 17:18

I love the Daily Show too - have it on Sky + permanently. anonacfr - loved the Glenn Beck blackboard one. Beck is such an idiot though - he really sets himself up for it.

anonacfr · 23/04/2010 18:18

I have it on Sky + too! I watch it first thing in the morning after I've dropped my daughter off to school. Puts me in a good mood for the day.
John Oliver is my favourite correspondent at the moment. They did a little bit where they had a go at the French (after Sarkozy made some patronising comments about healthcare in a visit to NY) and as a Frenchie myself, Oliver and Stewart had me in tears.

Beck is one scary man- a dangerous idiot. He's like the male Sarah Palin.
