Surely everyone in the world has seen it at least 5 times. Why do they put it on so often, have they bought the rights to it? Do they get commission? Are they too tight to buy something else to show

TV tonight has been DIRE

'is it still raining...i hadn't noticed'

ITV is obsessed with Hugh Grant films... we had Love Actually on about 4 times over Christmas and I watched 9 Months the other day (Robin Williams is funny in that though )

cyb · 05/04/2010 00:16

Oh I love it, still laugh. And me and dh wait for that cringey last line and the terrible dubding of Hugh grants stammering.

If I could have hair like anyone it would be Andie Mcdowells in that film

Clary · 05/04/2010 00:20

Oh this drives me batty.

The TV channels constantly show the same films again and again.

Sliding Doors, What Women Want, 4 Weddings, yes Love Actually, there are others but it's too late to think of them. I like these movies but thanks I have seen them enough times now!

Why don't they show something else from recent years (or even longer ago?), Barry Levinson films or Martin Scorsese (actually Goodfellas was on the other night).

nomorecake · 05/04/2010 00:25

the most repeated film have to be leathal weapon's, die hard's, matrix's and mostly on itv2

mrscynical · 05/04/2010 20:13

At least once a week there is a Steven Seagal film on latish at night. Different titles to his films mean nothing. They are all exactly the same. Terrible acting, violent, awful script.

TV companies must buy up certain selections of films i.e. job lot of Richard Curtis rubbish and then show them on what seems to be an endless loop.

I know look out for foreign films (mainly BBC 4) as at least I see things I have never seen and actors who I do not recognise. Much more interesting. Subtitles are not a problem.

Of course it could be that I am getting old so have seen too much or maybe I need to get out more!

HerBeatitude · 05/04/2010 20:25

oh I hate that film and I hate Hugh Grant

Cannot decide if he was more objectionable when he was young and pretty or now when he's a raddled ole grump.

Bah.

southeastastra · 05/04/2010 20:28

there's some right old tripe on

ds has left on a dr who episode from about 1981 on. monsters waffling on to each other for ages

Eddas · 05/04/2010 21:00

Oh thank goodness, thought I was alone in hating the constant repeats. Strangely the repeats on other non main channel tv don't bother me so much, not sure why although I could do without the Matrix, watched them all once that was enough. Same with Lord of the Rings.

channel 4 funded the film, so presumably they can show it any time they like for no money

that's t'recession for you i guess
